My girl that prepares Peking Duck for me has a puppy that hangs around her and he eats duck sphincters all day. When she is preparing the duck for roasting, in one swift swirl of the knife, the sphincter is removed and the puppy eats it and is very happy. Every time she does that, she looks at me and giggles because she knows I think that's so hilarious.

Okay now is the time for me to make a decision. I am looking into getting grant money for a class. I have not been hired for a year in the field I am in. The state I live in offers displaced workers a grant for school. Trucking school is one of the schools they are offering to pay for. The state counselor encouraged me to look into getting a class within the field I am already in. She told me one of her other clients insisted in getting his CDL Class A/B license. But he suddenly realized the trucks were just too big and dropped out of training. I don't think this would happen to me. So now I have a decision to make. Do I go this route or not? I know the decision is totally up to me. Because if I take this class there is no use in getting trained and then not using start trucking. It's going to be a career changer.

It sounds like trucking is playing 2nd fiddle to what you really want, but can't find a job. You are starting off on the wrong foot, as far as trucking goes. If you have the time, take the trucking class, by then maybe something in your field will open up, but to do trucking because there's nothing else, is the kiss of death for a new career.

Likely a lot of local work up there. OTR is not the only CDL work. If you're a techie and want to be around more then look at HVAC/R.

Age means nothing. I am into the mid 50's with rolling surgeries fixing busted parts inside my body almost to the point at which I will want to go out and drive again. However my barrier is narcotics for what I require to function some days. It's more of a body pill rather than affecting the mind, but tests against roadside exercising does show that I am impaired with that stuff in me. So I have to wait before driving.

Not too many people are fortunate that they are entering the 60's and roll a semi truck what with the increasingly tight medical surveillance.

When I started driving I had friends. When I continued to drive and was away for months I did not have many friends. However the few I did have left to visit when i came back home would be life long no matter what I did.

Im awful picky about friends. There are a few who are truckers themselves and we get caught up now and then when passing through.
