I already am a lease operator and have been before as well. I'm looking for solid advice about trading up and becoming an owner operator, specifically, the purchase of a new, not used truck, and am beginning my research. If you have helpful advice for that topic, I welcome it.

Yesterday, I was talking to the tech at my satellite shop about the new T680’s, who park to my right, being absent. He said both are in the shop. He wasn’t certain, but, was thinking it was the 14th combined time and less than 100K combined miles between them. He mentioned the one is getting a second replacement set of injectors and is at ~46K mile mark. This further reinforces my aversion to PACCAR. Mine went in for batteries, which are at their normal replacement lifespan.
I’d suggest joining the “9+ MPG Club”, on FB. Tons of O/O tips about specs and ideas on increasing fuel mileage. You can see what Joel is doing here, over 30/60/90 days, with his new truck.
Driver Coach is something these guys all use and is an invaluable tool, which might be worth looking into for yourself, since you pay for your own fuel. As you move forward, it’ll be worth even more to you.
At $153K, I’d definitely get a 2nd opinion, maybe from a dealer, about its actual sales lot value. Just thinking aloud, if it’s been a solid and reliable truck, that has value, in itself. It’s been keeping you rolling, without loss of revenue and the uncovered shop expenses that always seem to pop up, despite having a warranty.
I truly want to see you, and anyone else, make it, in this industry. It’s not easy, as you know.Coffey Thanks this.
