Bobby runs the green n cream colored International. He's had a few trucks. He's the only person I speak with regularly that pulls for them. He's a good friend and a good guy.

different outfits have different things they can offer you, your own #'s offer other positive aspects. Pros and cons to everything in life, finding a good balance is key.

When I am looking for another truck I take my time and don't get in a hurry. When you take your time you can get a feel for the market and I usually find a good buy. You might run across a truck that has had a recent inframe or other work done.

I get home maybe every 5 weeks. Sometimes I stay out longer and will take a week off and stay in a hotel. My favorite place to take a week off is in a small town that has the old traditional down town with a main st filled with stores and a hotel. I've called the police and they let me park right in front taking up a bunch of spots. I remember going to the movies in one small town. It had a balcony and there was tons of kids on blankets all over the floor. The place would go nuts with people clapping and stuff. It was awesome!

I paid cash for everything when I started and I don't have any bills so I don't have to run that much. A few times I ran like a real trucker for 5 weeks at a time going from one load to another and made some real decent money. Now I'm lucky to do 1,500 to 2,000 miles a week.

As far as you going in the right direction, sure, if that's what you want to do. I would buy a cheaper truck then you plan to and lease onto Landstar and pull one of their trailers. Go with flatbed. Much more interesting and usually your carrying something people want and are waiting for. Landstar will train you on flatbed securement. I was actually down in Florida at what is called the Landstar homeless shelter to visit a friend. They let me stay there as long as I wanted and let me sit in on their class. Got my air brake adjustment license from them.

Darn, I don't remember. I bought it years ago and it's long gone now but it had a green cover and covered EVERYTHING!

You can usually find those securement books at most of the major truck stops. Or, you could order them directly from JJ Keller. I think their website is www.jjkeller.com or you can do a search for them. JJ Keller publishes a lot of documents for the trucking industry.
