Hate to see businesses close and people lose jobs but, that Lackawanna/Blasdell republic was terrible in just about every way. Can't say I'm sad to see it go.

I agree with your statement. But blaming down turn on a 4.6 mill settlement, I call bs. 500 employees at average income and benefits probably is 30 millon I guess? Sounds like they were gonna go under anyhow. I have a personal opinion we will see more of this unfortunately.

Off topic, Beemac hauls frac sand here locally. I don’t care for them.

Well, prior to my leaving them in 2017, they were good to drivers, and their CSA scores were top of the line, or I wouldn't have bothered with them. They took care of the equipment, got the drivers home when they needed it, etc. They worked you, but they were fair and well payed. Since then, can't speak to, since they don't seem interested in taking an 'old man' back on last year, and suggested I should just retire and enjoy my old age, so there were changes going on at the company that I didn't care for so those changes may be in full force now, and maybe I left at a good time, in hindsight. Deemac intel, seems to be an offshoot and the principal I think was their former safety director, so he might have spun off and started running their port services, according to the signs I see by the building of record. :)

Republic, every facility was a hole, so I concur, they're probably on the brink or just having a hissy fit because of the Gringo laws interferring with their piracy. :)

I feel for the workers, but not paying the freight is as bad as you guys getting hosed by a broker, same analogy and if Beemac/Deemac was slow on paying, this might be why. If the company was carrying that 4.6 million on the books, then they had to be careful how they watched their cash flow to cover expenses and costs.I can't fault them for that...and this is since 2019/2020, so they have had to be very cash conscious especially with the "new" administration's inflation creation decisions. :(

They had a good history in the steel industry around me. However they appear to be commercialized alot, esp like Buchanan. Who used to be a good name. They are all run by a bunch of children scared to talk on the phone and need a email. So juice them, nobody knows, they are only trained to get a low rate. Nobody cares if the work actually gets done or not.

Not sure if they outsource to overseas call centers or if they just hire a lot of border jumpers - but it seems like it's a 70/30 if English is their first language. I work with one local broker that takes care of a dozen or so of their o/o's and sometimes has extra outbound, but otherwise for posted loads they're on my last call/avoid list.

    Yeah, but who's the fool?
The people that wouldn't pay, or the company that let them get $4.6m in arrears?

They had inhouse dispatch, when I was there, so can't say what they use now. I know they were expanding, which is when some of the "mega carrier" crap started, and they were picking up a lot of Brokers, quite a few around Texas etc, trying to expand their footprint, but at that time, they weren't going much past I-35, though looking at their current location map, it seems they've extended to western Texas now, and not sure what lanes they run from there, as those terminals weren't there when I was. :dontknow:
