my logs were about 3.00 a month. No installation no racket, no glitch, no downtime and then run old standby(paper)lol. Trucking will become a respectable and high paying industry again only if Truckers have courage and get it. Airline pilots,Longshoremen,UPS,Refinery Workers, and even McDonalds workers all come together for better pay. Instead we act like Dog eat dog people who know everything and still most our driving jobs pay minimum wage. Brokers make more than that dirty tee shirt wearing driver on the same load. It’s truckers who don’t realize their worth in the equation. These companies rather get a truck that can drive itself instead of paying drivers more. See the hand writing on the wall.

It does seem, but there are other factors involved. I genuinely like the people I work with, I have levels of freedom unheard of in any major carrier and most of the middle level carriers, I go home on MY schedule instead of being held to a specific set schedule, and I prefer the freight and territory I run. Maybe not all the customers, bit everyone has their own sack of rocks to carry. Mine is really light.

Mega carriers want small operations to have the same disadvantages that they have.

The shippers and receivers will NOT solve the problem. Mega carriers are willing to let their drivers sit there because they have lots of trucks and drivers that can relay the load and still get it there on time. Or forced teaming to get the job done. It’s the companies that only have a few trucks with solo drivers that are going to have a tough time. And that’s exactly what the mandate was designed to do... force the small carriers out.

Truck stops love ELD I’m surprised none of the chains offer Eld services.

Knew it was coming, didn't do the math and deal with management in advance. Is getting less and crying foul about it....

To many mega fleet steering wheel holders on here with a opinion on something who have no skin in the game. Your company had you on eld before the mandate and the mandate had nothing to do with it, so why should you have a opinion on how the rest of us operate??

You company guys are accustomed to playing by someone else’s rules, but I still can’t wrap my head around a owner being ok with big brother riding shotgun with his stop watch out staring at you dictating Your day/week and keeping tabs on your every movement and location 24/7. I need a few extra minutes here and there, I need to take my truck to the shop on the weekend while on a 34, I need go the Wally World here and there, and sometimes I need to take a crap in the middle of the night while parked at a customer with banking hours, how does that work on eld? I not leaving my trailer in bfe to off duty drive. The outlaw trucking days have been over awhile, we just need leeway here and there and it is straight up black and white on eld, no grey..

How we got eld is the ata and megas threw around enough money in Washington to make it happen, out of pure principle that should be enough to turn everyone against elogs but you guys don’t seem to get it, next it will be speed limiters. I really wish some of you yahoos would stop quoting the eld brochure, rates aren’t going up, shippers aren’t going to re-evaluate their practices, and roads won’t be safer,, time sensitive operations will go team or shuttle, us mom and pops will stay regional, and the megas will pick up the slack and keep rolling like they have been for years since they are already on eld and have the trucks and man power to repower loads,I know in general us truckers aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, but come on guys why else would the megas Throw millions of dollars into making this mandatory for the rest of us..

The rules are the same, they're just easier to enforce now.

Its called pc. Set your #### up right and your wally world dump run wont affect your hours.

As to no skin in the game or not wanting regs.... what job ANY job do you think is free of big brother? The only difference, and its been pointed out already, is you get to see it. Dont want someone to have access to your location? Hope your not carryig a phone. Even a crappy flip phone. Its easier to get a gps ping off of that than your elog. This is not the freedom that you pretended it was. You just cant fool yourself anymore.

    driverdriver and spyder7723 Thank this.
