Last time I checked I’m a grownup and I choose to do as I please... I run my business as I see fit. If I observe a driver that can’t back into a simple space I will make sure I video it to prove that there’s a training problem in this industry. And umm no I will not help especially if it’s a matter of that driver not seeing the big picture ie.. straight line back. But you’ll will try to tell me I’m wrong to offer my services to a mega carrier for the sake of what. Their profits if you get out and look you get a mental of what’s going on. After 15 yrs I still get out and look if I’m not sure. And I never rarely have any one to help me. Thanks

The company I drive for has been on E-logs going on 6 years now(Qualcom).
Yes, it is a pay cut in some circumstances no matter what the techie drivers think.
But there are way around logs that you can do and do legally.
    1. Always log OUT! when taking your 10 hour break or reset.
As soon as I find a parking spot I go OFF Duty and in a few minuets I will log out. That way in case I need to move during the 10 hours I can, as long as you don't move more than a 1/4mile or go over 10mph.
    2. A few minuets before your ready to drive at the start of the day log on and as soon as the page comes up go onto line 1 immediately. It takes a few minuets for the computer to adjust and summarize. Otherwise your day will start on line 4.
Most of the time I will stay on duty getting fuel which I will use as a inspection also.
    3. I keep the qualcom on driver summary while driving, as soon as I stop for any reason and any length of time I go to line 1 to save your 70hrs.
    4. Unless I'm getting paid for a pump off or driver assist I log off duty while at the shipper/receiver. And even then I immediately go off duty when I'm done and have to wait for bills etc.
If the non-driving geniuses in govt. want us to use these e-logs, then we can use them to OUR advantage.

In 3weeks of training you will get to be a professional driver. This need to change crab bucket training it’s so bad they have trainers that say I’m in it for the money. Don’t care if a driver learn anything. They will turn them loose in that truck and don’t really care if they can handle being out there in different situations.Eld effectively made up for the megas hire anyone with a pulse even if the driver can’t count. Have any of you read cases of workers comp? The lawyers did deep and it goes public and you know what there’s a lot of drivers who never completed high school. One driver read on a third grade level.

I have been driving since 1977. If any driver gets out and helps spot me backing up I will buy him/her a cup of coffee!

I’ve read hundreds of stories on here about plant workers with zero driving experience being handed the keys and learning on their own.
Do you really think those people could back a truck up in their first 6 months?

We’ve all seen them trying and trying and then go park along the curb, but since they’re in a beat up no name truck we just assumed they’re having a bad day or just drove a thousand miles.

So all your original post tells me, is that before you went on e logs you cheated on paper to make it, welcome to the new reality. There are tons of drivers and companies out there that have only made it for years by cheating on paper. If they don’t adjust to the new reality, they will be gone in 6 months. The freight market will tighten up, rates will increase, and maybe, just maybe driver compensation will increase.

This is how us men use elogs, notice my I started driving at 7:03 and stopped at 23:03, I had to use my 16 hour extension.
I got held up at the shipper and knew it’d be tight.
My company would have paid for a hotel and gave me $25 if I asked, but even if I let it log me driving past my 16 it ain’t the end of the world, unless I make a habit of it.

Eld and cheating on logs, cheap loads, and the fact of requiring people to run eld even if they don’t want to but they own the truck. The government should grant owner operators money for the cost and services of eld since paper is still used as a backup.

And another thing ok how come you can tell the eld trucks at the truck stop either they creeping or speeding. What the parking situation just watch can’t wait to see it. When you elog run over it’s allowed driving time and lawyers have a accident and the elog shows you went over multiple times. You will go to jail. And when that trooper stop you he won’t have the same sense of humor you will get a ticket.Eld will not make rates go up it’ll make larger companies do team cdl Training.
