    Enjoy it while you can.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone thinks we need smart caps in the future.

Good job trucking industry? No sir, good job to you. While I will not argue the efficacy of e-logs, I will say that it’s pirates like you who helped brought it on. Weather you agree with rules or not, rules are still rules and wile the rest of us are trying to stay within it, you decided that you were above it.
If you want to know what are one of the contributing factors that made e-logs manditory all you have to do is just look in the mirror.

    Thank you.

I've local and otr and NEVER left myself with no out,

People can rant about the eld all they want. If you cannot do your job in the 11/14 something needs to be adjusted. If a UNFORESEEN problem arrives you should be allowed to adjust your HOS once a week.

But to complain that a eld forces you to stop 1-2 hours from home is not the machines fault.

How many hours did you drive to get there. So after 8 hours your get to use what you had left. But most times this is utterly useless.

That's what always bothers me with the "What if I get stuck past my 14?" Well, why did you allow yourself to get stuck? If you are running out of hours you leave. Of course make arrangement with dispatch, brokers, etc...

Yes crap happens, but using the excuse that the dock held you should never be one.

Most people running local, and thus can use the 16 rule drive daycabs. There is no splitting the clock then. :(

We have runs that are 630-640 miles, some are one way while others are round trip. Both types of runs go through major cities. When our company switched to the new Elogs with the new rules, the drivers started bringing the loads to the yard instead of the customer. Now, a local driver(s) has to deliver the loads and pick up the return loads.

It’s an extremely inefficient way to get loads delivered, but it’s the only practical solution besides turning the trucks up. To the OP, you may only be here to vent and then disappear, but you have made me laugh today. Thanks

And that is the reason the current hos needs to be looked at and revised. We all know the shippers are not going to change how they do business.

But we should all be adult enough to know the eld is not the monster it's made out to be. If you lose almost a third of your income simply switching to a eld, what does that tell you.

Paper or eld, my income stayed consistent

The problem is not ELD, or HOS. The problem is low pay. And high cost of living in a truck. And it's hard to cook in a truck. Back on pay company drivers who drive than sleep in truck donate their lives to try to pay bills. We are considered untrained workforce. Yet we are the most federally controlled workforce. And we get no thanks, and we may as well be paid with peanuts.
