I pointed out that such threads bring out the self-righteous in all their smugly hostile glory.
I see the same obvious points repeated over and over adding nothing to the conversation and only serving the (imagined) purpose of making a few people here think they look good.

There are few pleasures so sweet as vindication - being proven right over an over an over.

So keep up the insults and accusations as I sit here with my perfect record and a tall can of Guinness laughing at the hypocrites. :biggrin_25522:

someone posted the rules a few pages back, and more than likely so far we know that he got a fine of 1k. and he was put OOS for at least 24 hours according to the rules.

I am not sure of any one company out there that doesn't have some sort of alcohol policy that one has to sign along with all the other papers one signs in order to drive for a company.

If he was leased on with someone more than likely he/she will have the lease pulled i am pretty sure that landstar/greatwide etc... would pull a lease immediately on any driver for an alcohol offense.

If he a company driver more than likely if he hadn't been fired yet, it will be just a matter of him getting to a terminal so company make sure equipment gets there safely before being handed walking papers.

and i really hate to say it but if he works for an O/O who has own authority, with maybe 3-5 trucks, well he/she may say oh well, don't get caught again and he will be still driving. (I only know of a couple of places where I personally been at where a driver could get away with something like this.)

Other than that alcohol, dwi, dui's, drugs, etc...etc... are just career killers no matter how one looks at it.

well i guess there is another company that will keep drivers, as his boss had him pick it up which really means ok, his boss will help with paying the fine if not all of it, and looks like he won't be out of a job.

had a boss like that at one time, but eventually he got popped with a dui and lost everything and i was happy i moved on before the crap really hit the fan....

oh well looks like this thread is now a bust....and i was having so much fun as I am just so bored............

I've had Texas do a few times. Guess I look like a drug runner or something. Last guy handcuffed the trailer door open so I couldn't lock him in. I had no idea I was that dangerous looking!

This rule of no alcohol in the sleeper is as foolish as some of the log book rules. However. The rule is the rule. No alcohol in the truck. Simple and Easy to understand. I had a driver got caught with a six pack in the truck at a weigh station. It was in the grocery bag he bought it in. Said he bought for when he got home. He was only an hour from home. He didn't want to leave again after he got home. I did not fire him, he worked for maybe 3 more years then bought his own truck and leased on with someone else.
Second time one of my drivers got caught with beer. He had a 12 pack hidden in a orange water cooler in his sleeper. He was fired over the phone. The truck was towed by the police and I had arrange to have truck brought back from 6 hours away. This driver I was giving a second chance as he also had a dui in his personal vehicle 2 years prior. Never again.
I won't hold it against you if you want a drink in your sleeper. I would walk to the nearest watering hole to have one or two. Never in the truck.
