Yes, that's true. There are trucking companies from great to sweat shops.
There are thousands of drivers out there bringing home from $0 to to just a few hundred weeks on end. Some lease drivers are in the negative some weeks. Meanwhile you see fancy Danali's and Lexus's in the parking lot of a multimillion dollar building of a trucking company with eight digit profits. With truckers exempt from many labor laws, some are being taken advantage of. Those whiners have legitimate complaints. We need to seperate and identify them here in the forum so drivers can be informed. The only way is to let em whine! :)

I would say MOST Lease drivers have some weeks in the negative. So what? Thats part of being a Business. When you run a business, you take those weeks you make Big Money and save some for those weeks when you want or have to take time off.

Sure, there are drivers out there driving for bad companies and not making much cash, but why are they there? Why are they staying? Usually its because they are a part of the problem themself. I have talked to drivers that have worked for 7, 8, 9 or more companies, and they complain about them all. I really pissed one guy off when I told him, If you find the perfect company, please dont join them, because it wont be perfect anymore :p

I would say this is life in general in all areas, not just trucking. I think the human race is devolving and all of the technology that is available is making people dumber, lazier and more anti-social. Everywhere you go, people are staring at smartphones or laptops and no human interaction.
There is no work ethic, or simply, no ethics at all.

Pretty depressing anyway you look at it, these seem to be the end times to me..

A few years back a certain company I worked for sent out an interesting message over the Qualcomm. One of our big shippers was a business that manufactured and distributed building materials. There was one driver who worked there who literally looked like a gopher with pubic hair on his face. As I've gotten older I've tried not to judge a book by its cover, so I tried to give this guy the benefit of a doubt.

Anywho, One day I get a message on the Quallcom stating that one of our drivers was caught publicly urinating at a job site right in front of some office windows. What the driver failed to realize was that the building project was an addition and not the initial construction. Anyway, The employees in the office were not too pleased to see his FUPA (That's fat upper pubic area for the acronym impaired) and genital junk in action. The message on the Quallcomm described the incident (but didn't name names). Of course word gets around at a smaller outfit. One part of the message was something like "It is very hard to maintain a professional image when we are caught with our pants around our ankles doing the unthinkable and obscene." At first I laughed, but I was really appalled to think that someone could be that careless and inconsiderate.

If you ever wonder why some shippers and receivers hide behind glass or have stupid rules and regulations, you can thank people like gopher boy:biggrin_25510:
