New drivers should be aware that going through a scale, driving around and going back through the scale will not magically change the results. You actually have to get out and move the tandems or 5th wheel to change the results.
I actually saw a rookie driver go around and reweigh four times at a scale in a customer's yard without doing a thing to change his wheel positions. Finally he came up and said, "My weights aren't changing. What do I do?"

there was one time a scale house arrowed me to turn around and weigh a 2nd time, I knew my weights were good since I scaled out and had over 1k lbs to spare on each, the 2nd time around they let me go, I dont know if I was going too fast, they werent paying attention or what the reason was, saw a couple other trucks that had to do it too -

North east is expensive in general so I believe it
Hardly any of the shippers I go to have scales, I think the only shipper so far I have gone to with a scale was for cambels soup. -
I'm not necessarily eager to trust a shipper's scales if the load is close. A CAT scale is a cheap price to pay for assurance you aren't going to get dinged by DOT.
Cranky Yankee Thanks this.
