Well I finally got some time where I wasn't completely exhausted or bewildered so thought I'd update this a bit. I did get my truck last Tuesday. an 09 Volvo with 259k on the clock. In pretty good shape but needs a bath pretty bad! The interior was in decent shape and not filthy so I'm happy. It actually is a nice truck and pulls real nice. It seems to go into regen an awful lot though but runs strong so I just ignore it. I had a prominent electrical issue which I didn't discover until of course I hooked to a trailer for my first load, a heavy t-call down to Orlando Publix DC. I had no marker lamps or tag light on said trailer. Of course this was past the time the shop had gone home so I said a quick prayer and ran with it anyway.

From Publix over to Auburndale FL to pull a live load bound for a WalMart DC up in Brundidge AL which was a drop. On the way to AL stopped in at the yard and did a ten and put it in the shop. First thing they did was hand me fuses. No go. Then had me write up a SWR and they looked at it. That's all they did. Guy checked the pigtail (put it on a meter) and pronounced it healthy as they rolled the shop doors down for the day and told ME to hook it up to a trailer and check it. See ya tomorrow. No, I have to run at 0100 thanks alot bud. Well of course the issue still existed. Long story short, I took the backshell off of the connector trailer side and found bare wires staring at me all nice and blackened. Couldn't tell you what color the insulation was supposed to be. They're all black wires aren't they? :p

Anyway, delivered to Wally World and snatched an empty for a late pre-plan to pick up near Phenix City AL. Had about 4 hours left on 14. Got to the shipper Mead Products big big paper mill deal. Had to jack my empty into their ate up dock layout, then go find my preload. By the time got done with their rigmarole I had about an hour left. Asked the guard where was the closest place for a shut down as I was in the middle of nowhere Cottonton AL. Luck would have it a mom and pop stop up about a mile down the road. Shut down exhausted. That was a live unload in Nashville and various screw ups on my part found me 38 minutes late for my appointment. Long story short here is I got stuck at the customer for my ten. Yay!! LOL

Next day preplan was a D/U at DuPont in Johnsonville TN for t-call to Columbus, OH Got that done yesterday smooth as butter and woke up to a nice light t-call out to where I'm at now, Mt. Vernon IL. Will deliver tomorrow at noon central in Little Nashville, IL. About 25 miles down the way from here. Had time to look into my electrical issue and found a corroded and burnt pin in the tractor receptacle which broke off when I put a wire brush on it. I got it fixed but can't say how or I'd have to kill you.

Well that oughta catch everybody that cares up with my doings. Solo trucking is alot different than teaming I'll tell ya that. But after 5 days now I can honestly say my training was sufficient and I've now found I can teach myself too! LOL

I think we need our own Swift where are you thread what do y'all think?
I'm at the T/A exit 95 I-57 S Mt. Vernon IL until about 1000 central tomorrow morning.

    Peace.

ETA : Oh yeah, truck number 306086

The Columbus West truck stop at exit 118 on US 151 is a fairly decent little place to stop. Just an Arby's for chow, but it's clean and the staff is pretty friendly. Hubby use to park his truck there all the time before he got hurt. It puts ya about 14 miles away from Beaver Dam.

Quite a view from up there. I can tell you from living out that way those mountain passes are closed a lot in the winter either for snowfall or avalanche danger.

WTG by the way. Good luck. I am getting my ducks in a row to get back out on the road. Check the blog for more.

Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down.:biggrin_25525:

Well let's see from Beaver Dam I got a load out of Waupun for a T-Call to the New Boston Yard. Pretty easy live load of empty soup cans looked like heading for Ontario eventually. Once in MI they ran me on a short local t-call drop. From there I high tailed it to the T/A in Newport to wait for another. Got my electrical pig tail swapped out before I left and a shower. Received a NICE pre plan for a live load out of Napoleon OH on condition of a two stop t-call out of the yard to Krogers in the Detroit area. Got that down and boogied down to OH. Under that load now currently in Hinesville GA doing a 34 while visiting my sister. Dang thing doesn't deliver until 0800 Wednesday morning in Ormond Beach FL. Will head down to FL around 0300 after the 34 is up and have breakfast with my old man and step mom. Then see my mom later on. I figured on a lot of time for this load with the holiday weekend but can't figure out why it doesn't deliver tomorrow versus Wed. I may call the consignee and see if they'll take it tomorrow. I like the down time like anybody else I guess, but dang this is ridiculous.
