Today was even more stress free if that's possible. Feeling really laid back and excited at the same time. Spent the day watching numerous training videos and fighting the Z monster. Lunch was again copious and delicious. I had the broccoli and beef this time OBGYN! I think it may have been either Lab or Chow though but still tasty. Thank God for my trips to Korea. Capped the day out with the Safety Manager and a Log Class. Getting coded out tomorrow, Comdata card, fuel card, payroll etc. Mentors will pick us up at some point by the end of the day if all goes well with their journeys into Ocala. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the insight and advice over the past months, especially to my friend Sonny (OBGYN) for paving the way! Will post as much as possible about the mentor training experience as I forge ahead in my new career. Peace.
sounds better than what there feeding us up here in atlanta mrs winners chicken all three days i'm bout chicken out
I talked with Swift today and I'm in the same sit as many have my CDL since 1997 but havent driven since late 2000 have logged over 350,000 miles. They told me that I would have to go to an orientation then a road test then I guess a trainer but they said the rate would only be .25cpm. Does this sound normal to anyone?
Sounds about right but I think it's .26cpm. Had a few guys in my orientation in your sit. They did the road test and will go out for a couple weeks or so at best with a mentor just to make sure all is good. Long as you smoke the road test you'll have no issues I'd wager.
Cycloguy, that is the starting rate for new drivers and as I understand it, you would be considered new. You'll get 6 raises your first year if it's the same as when I started out with Swift. Good luck, man.
Thanks Schmidtrock And Bigmike Yes we all have to start somewhere I would love to get on with the flatbed div but not sure if they are doing that out of the Ocala terminal but van is good for now. Hey Schmidtrock I'm not to far from ya up here in Middleburg. Have been following your post keep it up. Thanks again.
the only three terminals i heard during orientation that has flatbed divisions is greer sc, gary in, and phoenix az. and .25 a mile for newbies is right thats what our instructor told all the people that had to go out with a trainer for 6 weeks hope this helps
Coded yesterday, mentor assigned nice brand flipping spankin new ProStar!!! It smells goooooood! Been waiting on a load since yesterday as mentor was off for a few days. Pre-plan came in today window for p/u tomorrow in Tampa bound for Atlanta! How's that for getting BROKE in??
