Good luck wedge! Just keep low during the duckwalk. Sends about half the people home.

    Hello Everyone. :biggrin_25511:

Day 1 is finished. Passed the DOT and driving test. :biggrin_25525: And I've decided that auto shift isn't for me. I'll take a 10 speed any day.

The agility test is pretty easy. Depending on whether you are going for dedicated or OTR determines how much weight you haul around on your test (40 lbs for OTR, 70 for the dedicated trainees).

The rest of the day was spent watching training videos and filling out paperwork.

So far things are looking good. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Right now, I'm hitting the sack......I'm beat. :biggrin_25518:

    Thanks for reading.

    Great news Wedge!!

Do you get a choice re: the 10 speed cuz I heard USX was getting rid of the automatics or phasing them out?

Hope tomorrow is just is good!!!

What kind of truck I end up with is most likely not my call. I'll see what happens.

I'll give you an update tomorrow. :biggrin_255:

    Hello Everyone. :biggrin_25511:

Well, I hate to say it but I'm not going to be signing on with USX. I wasn't released, but I withdrew on my own.

As much as I hate to admit it, my hearing (or lack of) is the reason. There is more to this job than just driving the truck, that's the easy part. It's the communications that go along with the job. Using the phone to call shippers and receivers, dispatch, maintenance, this is not my area of strength. I struggle using a phone. Should an emergency arise, my inability to communicate, effectively over a phone, could be costly. That is not a burden I wish to carry.

So I'm hanging up my log book and moving on to something else. I'm just not sure what that will be as of yet.

I want to thank all of you for your help, advice, and humor. I wouldn't have enjoyed learning as much as I did if it wasn't for all of you.

I'm sure I'll be lurking around.

    Thanks for being there. :biggrin_25525:
