Try KLLM they start you at. 32cpm and run all 48. Miles are around 2500-2800 from what i've been told. Just stay away from their lease program.

Had to get coast to coast nowadays as a solo driver. Just because a company runs all 48 doesn't mean you will. A lot of companies use the teams to run west or whatever. I know my company I haven't been west of the Mississippi since I went solo, but went all over with a trainer. Also just because one company pays more a mile, doesn't mean they will give you more miles. Don't know if they hire out of your area but Crete is worth looking in to. Only problem with them is your school has to be on their approved list.
Sorry Wedge for hijacking your thread! stay safe out there!Wedge Thanks this. -
AT I just called your company ,WS, I live too far away from their terminal.
Markus
Going....somewhere soon!American-Trucker Thanks this. -
That's too bad Markus-W/S seems to be a good company from the posts and posters on here.
Keep doing your homework on companies and no matter where you land hopefully the company works for you as well as you for the company. Of course being a newbie does make it hard to get into a 'better' company vs a bigger one or ''bottom feeder'' as you probably have read on here. I think I asked or Wedge asked about USX and you said you couldn't for some reason? (since you live in NY and they have terminals on the east coast) They are not that bad a company.
I wish you continued luck with your search for a company. -
you could still try Epes they dont go west of the MS River but they are a good company and will get you home almost every weeked

So talked to the Schneider recruiter. 1. Fill out an online app....check. 2. Put his name in the space provided so the application goes to the top of the pile.....check. 3. Attend school.....check (start Monday). 4. He will call and get me in the paperwork so I can go straight from school. I get a call. Because I am not a graduate, my case is closed. I told them what the recruiter told me. Doesn't matter. I have to be a graduate before they will talk to me. Ok, so there are hoops to jump through. My concern is that I will go to school, fork over thousands of dollars and then nothing. I cant do OTR for now due to small children but the oil field work is appealing due to many factors. Keep hounding them I guess.
Wedge Thanks this. -
Coast to coast would be a long run in a Prime truck . I don't know what their trucks are governed at but even Swift flies by them like they're standing still .Wedge Thanks this.

The only trucks I've seen as slow as Prime might be May. I don't run across them that often, but when I do, I blow right by.

Markus could still sign on with Millis even with his CDL in hand, but they will want him to go through, and pay for, their school, which, may not be something to be discarded. Millis will train him well, and their way.
If I was in his shoes, that would be the first outfit I would try to sign on with. I think they're worth the extra time and effort. Their training pay is excellent, BTW.
Don't worry, Wulfman. I'm glad that you, Hamsterrock, Sammycat, American Trucker, Shrek1, Markus, and RickG kept the thread moving along in my absence.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
I just came back through your area and saw plenty of alternatives to OTR in your region. Going OTR is usually the next step for new drivers, but not always. A driving job like you're looking for is hard to find as a newbie, but don't give up. Keep looking. They are out there.
