After I picked up this load I went through Sacramento.
It would be nice to meet you and Klingon. I have a habit of posting where I'm going after I'm almost there. I don't sit too much with USX. There always seems to be a pre-plan waiting, with no down time in between.
I'll get it sorted out and one of these days.......yep.........coffee, coffee, coffee!

There's no middle ground with those roads, either do it, or park it.
I missed Rainier, Chompi. Clouded over my whole trip south to Cali. Didn't clear up until Mt Shasta. I squeezed off a couple of pics with my phone as I was driving past.
Scenery is great. Someday I'll go out there without having an appointment to keep. -
I tried getting home for T-day week but no dice. First come, first serve, so I stayed out. This is week 9 for me.
They're working me back east so I can be home for Christmas. Shoot me a PM or e-mail with your schedule. Maybe we can meet up for coffee.
Don't forget. -
Guess I need an I 10 run from Jacksonville, to LA. That'll fix it. -
Hey Wedge
sounds like you are busy but really enjoying it! Must be so different to be out west than on the east coast and I would love to see some of those places too! (no thanks I am NOT getting my CDL!)
I really enjoy hearing (reading) where you are and your experiences-nice to 'see' it through someone else's eyes!
I am keeping my fingers crossed you keep busy, get miles you want and get home for Christmas!!!!!!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Gotta agree, NM and AZ are a couple of my favorite. Especially up on 40 and north of there.
Props to you Wedge! Donners can be challenging even when dry! Its dark as hell up there and the way the roads are so close together it really puts on coming headlights right into your line of sight, blinding the hell out of you! Plus due to so much snow plowing the lines on the road are barely there in some spots. There are some really cool webcams you can check out if you want to know the conditions up there. Look up Truckee web cams. Nevada really is a vast nothing. You didn't miss much in the dark. My wife would always get creeped out driving through at night. I think she thought aliens would come down to get her!
Yes you definitely need to be prepared crossing any of those states in the winter time. You really need to watch your fuel too! Run low on fuel and get shut down on the interstate and you are screwed! We spent 4 days out in Wyo up on 90 waiting for a couple tow trucks one time. Eventually we were towed 400 miles back to Sturgis, during Bike Week no less! All part of the adventure I guess.
Glad to hear you are checking off some more states man! Keep it rollin and drive safe man!
Wedge Thanks this. -

Me too!!! Don't worry Markus you will be there soon enough!

My coffee pot died!!!!!!
Now I have to pay for coffee untill I can replace it.
Just a quick update. I delivered to the receiver, on time, even though I've been battling the 70 hour clock.
A new thing I learned on this trip is that when you leave Laramie, WY and head east on I80, climbing over the hills you reach an elevation in excess of 8500 ft.Any higher and I'd have to go on oxygen.
I had a pre-plan to go from Chicago to Topeka, KS, but it was scrubbed. Might have had a chance to visit with my son who is stationed nearby. Instead, they're sending me into MO. Just a short hop, but its money.
Will catch up later. -
Hello Everyone.
I guess later became sooner.
Waiting for my hours to catch up each midnight didn't help regulate my sleep any. I don't normally have a problem with switching my hours over from days to nights, but this time was different. I needed to stop after 4 or 5 hours and take power nap which helped greatly.
After arriving here in University Park, IL. I was ahead of schedule and was able to sleep for 11 hours last night (still wasn't enough), and feel much more rested today. I'm back on a day schedule, so I should fare up pretty well. Of course my hours are still an issue. It'll take a 34 hour reset to fix that.
Right now I'm waiting to pick up a load locally. It won't be ready until 1200 local time, so I figured it was a great time to get some laundry done. It only goes to St. Louis, but I still have to pay attention to hours. With having less than my normal 11/14 to work with, a delay of any kind can cause a problem. So how far I drive today will be based on when my next block of hours become available, not how much I have left today. Being on time for pick up and delivery is paramount. What happens in between is secondary.
Time to move the clothes to the dryer.
Thanks for reading.
