Dear Wedge, sammycat, AT and the rest of the gang that has made this forum what is it today.
I would like to personally thank all of you for taking the time to post but especially Wedge.
I am thinking of taking this plunge and enjoyed every minute of reading the entire 134 pages of posts. I learned a lot and am still researching all my options.
Empty nest starts in T minus 5 months and I am so ready to start a new journey being that is finally my turn!! Everyone thinks I am insane and way to old to start a new career especially driving a truck.![]()
My support comes from reading these forums, keep them coming guys. I hope all continues to go well for you and hopefully I will see you somewhere out there.
I have always wanted to drive a truck and you have inspired me that much more...I wanted to make sure I posted to tell you all that. Thank you!!

So glad you enjoyed Wedge's thread it has alot of good information as he went thru school and the whole process of getting his CDL and getting a job.
Another really good thread to read ( and it's locked/docked) is by Open Road Guy. He really wrote everything also about his time getting his CDL and job at Swift ( sad part was he stopped posting over a year ago and no one knows what happened...)
Feel free to ask questions! We were all newbies is some capacity at one point and I have to say that as the sign other I learned TONS on here and also have a blast!!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Sammycat thanks for the warm welcome. I have millions of questions but am trying to make my way through this forum to get them answered without having to keep asking the same ones over and over again.
I have tried to find women drivers in this forum that are not driving with a husband or a boyfriend, can you point me in that direction.
I have not been able to find anyone that fits my description. My son is a police officer and is very worried about me driving alone, as a woman, once out of training, what do you think? After raising two boys on my own I am rather looking forward to alone time. -

Thanks AT! Your videos rock!! I am very impressed....more like amazed at all you have done with your truck. I know who to come to when the time finally comes for me getting my very own.
I meet with my school counselor tomorrow morning at 10am to see where I need to go from here.
I am going to hang out in the ladies lounge for now, copying and pasting an email to my son. Thanks again for your help!American-Trucker Thanks this. -
Sorry am a little late but happy new year ya'll! Hey Wedge sometimes the best show is the parking lot! Especially when the weather's bad. That was one of our favorite things to do. Hope things are going well for you out there. Drive safe, be very weary of those holiday 4-wheelers.
Wedge Thanks this. -

I hope you were able to find some useful information in my thread. Though I do tend to get a touch wordy at times, I try to post information that is useful to those who will follow.
In my travels I have seen and met some lady truck drivers. Agreed, many are co-drivers with their husbands or boyfriends, but they are out there.
Good luck to you. I'll be interested in hearing more about you progress. -
Glad my thread can help anyone with questions about the biz from a new driver's point of view.sammycat Thanks this.
