Congratulations, Wedge! Wait... is this something to congratulate? Or is it more like you chose Log Cabin over Aunt Jemima and we're all happy that you picked Log Cabin? Although, Log Cabin's syrup is really good on pancakes... with a little butter too. On a tall stack. With bacon and hashbrowns. Curses. Now I'm hungry.

Congratulations on your choice of Log Cabin, Wedge, and keep the rubber side down!

    vwnut and Wedge Thank this.

    Thanks Ericman. :biggrin_25514:

I think I'm a little fuzzy on the syrup thing. Maybe I should read your post in the morning when I'm not tired.

Con-Way does give teams priority on loads. If they are five solo guys sitting at a terminal waiting for loads and a team comes in, they automatically got to the top og the list. It rarely affects us though, we are pre-planned on a load before we even deliver our last one a lot of the time. The times we aren't it usuallly doesn't take us long to get us something unless we are in Laredo.

We aren't sure about equipment. They did, for a little while, order studio sleeper trucks to give to teams but they arent doing that currently.

As far as the all D/H and all terminal to terminal, complete BS.

Con-Way Truckload used to put a lot of Con-Way Freight loads which were from terminal to terminal and mostly team runs. That is not a common thing anymore. Con-Way Freight primarily had other companies (mainly CRST) pull those load before but when the ecnomy got real bad they stopped that so they could give those miles to Con-Way Truckload. This was all so that Con-Way would have enough miles to keep all of their drivers moving and not cut pay. Now that things aren't quite so bad and Trucload has enough of it's own freight to haul Con-Way Freight is back to getting other companies to haul those loads.

My boyfriend has been both team and solo with Con-Way so he provided these answers for me to post.

Thanks for the info, Katey. :biggrin_25525: I was hoping you would chime in.

The info I got was from a solo driver going through "boot camp" and a few other posters who said they were waiting on trucks and that the team guys were getting priority. The posts were dated back a year.

Conway has so much freight that they can contract other carriers to move it? That's a plus. It's also good to know they'll hold off doing that if that freight falls off to keep their own people busy.

I really like Conway, but I'm out of time. Once you have a CDL, the clock starts ticking.

Katey, thank your boyfriend for helping out. :biggrin_25514: Conway information is important to a couple of posters on here.

    Stay safe out there!

    No problem :biggrin_255:

Anyone following this thread that has any Con-Way questions are welcome to PM me, between me and Chris, we have quite a bit of knowledge about both past and present stuff.

May The Wind Be At My Back. :biggrin_25511:

    Hello Everyone.

I just received word from Swift that my orientation date has been moved up to Dec. 14th. So I should head out with a trainer by the weeks end, assuming of course, that there will be a trainer available.

I elected to believe that I was relegated to start orientation in January, even though my recruiter said that he would try to get me in on the 14th of December. The class was full, and would require a student to cancel. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to get that e-mail today. :yes2557:

I'm as excited as can be, and I can't wait to begin. It's been a long time coming, but the journey is just begining. I'll start a Swift thread so I can continue this journal, and I'll post the link here.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. :biggrin_25514: A new road awaits. :biggrin_25525:

    His will be done.

    Thanks for reading.

    Thanks Wulfman. :biggrin_25514:

What's going on with your training? Have you decided when you're going to start? Who you'll be going with? etc., etc, etc,
