Thanks AZS. :biggrin_25514: The Swift thing wasn't going to happen, so I bowed out gracefully.

I'll make sure I keep tabs on you. We might get a chance to grab a cup of coffee out there one of these days.

Thanks for your help, chompi. I appreciate all your effort. :biggrin_25514:

I had to make a quick dash up to Conley this morning. Because I was a business owner for the last 6 years, I had given them schedule "c" documents from my tax returns, but they wanted some accounting for 2010. They understood my taxes are not done yet, so I had to give them 2 letters of reference and a copy of my business license. That should square everything with them.

So time to pack and get organized. I'll make sure I don't over do it. This weekend is going to go by quick.

That should be sufficient. I had to do the same when we were originally hired on by Central. It is actually a federal thing not Central's rule. I'm stoked for you man! You are almost there! Pretty soon you will be Captain of your own ship! Keep us posted.

    Hey Wedge,
Good deal, glad to hear you're getting on with central, good luck.
The Legal service thing our instructor touched on having a lawyer( oh we started cdl school this past tuesday) very important now, even a violation in your private auto can be a serious deal and effect your CDL. He didn't recommend any one entity over another, just that he used some kind of retainer service, and suggested it was something to give serious consideration to. Also CSA 2010 we got a book as part of our class along with others, I'm sure they stressed the Log's hours of svc and inspections at Katlaw they seemed like good instructors there, won't take many infractions anymore to become a liability to the company. I know you know all that but do think about the legal thing, I'll try to remember and ask some more on monday, right now me and Susan are trying to keep straight air brakes, combos, double triple, coupling.:biggrin_25521:
    Good Luck Wedge

    Thanks Randy.:biggrin_25514:

I'm going to stay under the radar, low and slow as they say. If I drive the limits I shouldn't attract attention. I need to spend time gaining experience before I can make a call on these "legal plans". My best bet is to stay safe, drive safe, and log it legal (Central has e-logs so not too much choice there).

Good luck with school. I'm sure you and Susan will keep it straight. :biggrin_255:

    Thanks Sammycat. :biggrin_25514:

I have a some things in common with Klingon and Lady K being that Star Trek is my all time favorite TV series. I may get to meet him.

I can't wait to get the call, but I still have a handful of things that need to get done around here before I bug out. I'll have to put tomorrow to good use.

Cool.................. should be easy for me. :biggrin_25525:

All Dressed Up, Waiting Out the Snow :biggrin_25511:

    Hello Everyone.

I'm all packed and ready to head out with a trainer. As most of you know, the Southeast is being hit with a snow and ice storm which slows the movement of traffic, significantly. So, I have to wait it out. :biggrin_2556:

Central Refrigerated provides recommended guidelines for packing. When dealing with the winter months, however, you tend to pack more than you really want. It's possible to go from a cold area to a warmer climate during training. I've kept the clothing confined to 1 duffel bag, but it's a full duffel. So my plan to incorporate the toiletries into the duffel bag have not come to pass. So my bag count will be as follows: clothing duffel bag; toiletry bag; CPAP case; briefcase; sleeping bag & pillow.

I'm not sure how my trainer will react to my cargo, but I'll find out soon enough. It may be possible to eliminate the briefcase by putting the contents into the pockets of the duffel. I'll look that over while I'm waiting out this mess.

It seems, from watching the local news, that the ice is the real problem here. The forecast is for a continuing ice accumulation until Tuesday. :biggrin_2558:

I'm watching live footage of tractors that are getting stuck on the roads due to all the ice. Drivers heading into this area be advised that driving conditions are treacherous and I would advise waiting for road conditions to improve before continuing through the Atlanta area.

That's it for now. I'd welcome any recommendations from drivers regarding my packing list.

    Remember, stay safe out there.

    Thanks for reading. :biggrin_25514:

THAT raht there is a Golden post and piece of advice! Years of driving from sawmill to sawmill, I got to where it was expensive as heck, but worse --- that fast food just made me feel like crud!
