Hi!
I'm getting into this thread way late and catching up, but a question occurred to me here on PTI: is there not a written checklist that you follow? Or that you make up yourself?
That way nothing is missed?
Reason I ask, is my Dad is a private pilot who drove it home to me to always do this written checklist...every time...no fail... no memory.... He's a Nazi when it comes to that!
Ok... I'm off to continue reading and catching up...hope all is well your way!

Theres a half ##### list in the DMV book and your school should give you one little better, personally I have my own that I made and made 100 copies for my 2nd school to use as they were teaching a very bad PTI...I have also sent it out to 30 or so people on here as well.
In avaition it is Required by Fed Law that you Pre-Trip that way, in Trucking its also a fed law that you pre-trip but they dont care how you do it...

There is definitely a list you must know to pass the PTI portion of the CDL exam. I wrote that quote you highlighted when we were being individually tested prior to going to the Motor Vehicle Department (DDS here in GA).
Throughout the training at my school, students normally stay with the same truck all the way through testing at the DDS. The day my instructor tested me, our tractor was being serviced, so I was asked to do the in-cab portion of the PTI in a completely different tractor, so the unfamilar dash arrangement threw me for a second.
Pre trip and Post trip inspections should never be omitted. I care about PTI because I want to protect myself and those around me as best as I can, and it doesent take that long to do. Why risk it? The DOT is not going to be flexible, and I can't afford to pay for violations.
Pleased to meet you Skeet. -

The tractors in the Atlanta vicinity are having a heck of a time moving. Lots of jackknifed rigs on the roads.
But what I find most unusal is that none of these drivers seem to be interested in chaining up.
Question: Is it mandatory for tractors to carry chains? -
only some states require you to carry them, if there not chaining its probably because GA would freak if they started taring up the roads with chains...just a guess tho
