Traffic is still being diverted off various portions of the interstates. And while I was typing this I watched a driver trying to save his rig from jacking when he tried to slow up for a vehicle in the breakdown lane.

    Fun, fun, fun.

    Hey Guys,
The snow and ice. 1st thing, if you are are new to this area, you will learn that usually we are gonna get a couple inches a year and everything is back to normal in a day or so, and that's the extreme, and mostly it has a hard time sticking to the road anyway.
2nd thing ice is diffrent than snow, don't care who you are where you're from. I've seen reports on tv and been up north and mid west and seen people stranded when the snow comes that hard and that fast. Granted they clean it out of the way a little faster, but it happens pretty much every year and sticks to everything.
3rd and I'll get off the subject how much of your money do want the state dot to spend on snow equipment that they may not use again for 10 years, and then when they go to get it the tires have dry rotted it's been sittin so long. Report I heard yesterday snow plow like they use iI guess up north 250,000.00 a piece. It's your money, me I'll sit, usually won't be log anyway. So much for GLOBAL WARMING!

Now to my original reason for logging on, sorry your stuck Wedge, we got out a little yesterday, some places had a lane at least. Hopefully you'll go today I know your anxious to get started. I beat the snow and went and got my permit Sat. but I've been itching to get going since that day we visited Katlaw. Gotta get out today and see if we can find a DDS office open so Susan can take her permit test.
Good Luck to ya wedge, Here's hoping your first trip is SW

Another misconception of the term "Global Warming"--it doesn't mean it's getting warmer everywhere. Warming conditions at the poles causes weather patterns to change from what we normally experience. Jet stream patterns change moving colder air to areas normally warm. Please leave the politics and religion out of it as it's just nature doing it's thing. I also agree the state of GA shouldn't spend the $$ on snow removal equipment--it'll be gone by this weekend.

    Thanks for the input, Randy.

Congrats on getting your permit. Wish Susan good luck on her test.

I think I'm giving everyone the wrong impression when it comes to snow removal here in GA. I'm not insisting that the state spring for millions of dollars in dedicated hardware that sits the majority of the time. I am, however, recommending that they re-evaluate their preparedness program for winter storms.

I don't know what the SOP is here, but I can tell you that drivers heading in from AL during the storm were amazed that the same road they were traveling on became extremely unsafe as soon as the crossed the GA state line.

IMO, GA could have handled this better with the equipment they already have.

They just had a big wreck on the racetrack. The news is calling it a "catastrophe".

    Great news word.....catastrophe.

Wulfman, are you in school yet?

Sub-contractors. Plenty of them out there and they need to eat, too. :yes2557:

I'm taking Redwave's advice. I'm done talking politics. My apologies to those who were offended by my opinion. :biggrin_25514:
