The best analogy I can think of would be like flying in a plane and you're given two choices: Stay in your seat until the plane lands; Strap on this parachute and hit the seal.
I choose parachute.

I was told by the Katlaw instructors that it's best to wait until you've passed your road test with the DDS before you take any tests for endorsements. Something about your CDL permit becoming invalid for a short time. I'm not clear on the details, but it might be best if you call and ask before you take the tests.
Then again, if you pass, it's a moot point. -
