I already have my CDL. I'm about to begin my company training with Central Refrigerated. I'll be heading out with my trainer shortly.

And you're right about W/S. They are a great company to work for. I have friends that drive for them and they're very happy. I gave them serious consideration, but their closest terminal is pretty far away from my home -20, so I decided to pass.

Hell yeah Wedge! You are finally off on your journey! That is excellent! Make sure to bring your camera. You are going to have a blast! Keep in mind though if for any reason at all you feel like you are not being trained properly or just don't get along with your trainer then make sure you speak up. Put a call into dispatch if necessary. Don't let your trainer make you do anything against safety or the law! With that being said it likely won't happen. I have a pretty good feeling you are going to love it out there! Make sure to go over your packing list and pack light but not too light. If you need any help or have questions just shout. Good luck to you, drive safe! We are all proud parents!

    Thanks Katey.

I like it when everything goes better than planned, and it seems that's what's happening.

    Time for an updated, update.

    Hey Wulfman,
I got my AP Sat and Susan got hers on Wed then we filled out the app on line # www.hazprints.com pretty sure its .com it's in the 2009 handbook, you'll get a confirmation # and you can find nearest place to get fingerprints. Susan actually failed hazmat wed:biggrin_25511: retested today made 90,:yes2557: nobody at DDs or fingerprint or anywhere told us we were going out of procedure. I guess we'll see soon enough. If I remember right it takes about 4 weeks to get background back so if you wait till you have your cdl and go to comp. requiring Hazmat you want be able to pull placard trailer right away. Good luck with school we start back tomorrow go in late.
    Good luck
    Randy and Susan
I was thinking of learning to type so I could the time down for making posts, but I'd cut it down by half if I'd just learn to spell:biggrin_25523:

    PTA is Set. :biggrin_25511:

    Hello Everyone.

My trainer called shortly after lunch today. He had arrived in Conley and was putting his truck in for service. This afforded me an opportunity to travel to Conley (25 min drive) and meet with him, and I can tell you that it was time well spent.

He's an O/O who leases on to Central and has been training for about 4 years. He's an easy going older hand, and he made sure I was going to be comfortable with the training. After talking for a couple of hours, we discovered we both have common interest in history, Civil War history for one thing. He's somewhat laid back and easy to get along with. He has a very positive outlook and at this point I'm confident these next 4 weeks will go smoothly.

I asked about his concerns regarding how much in the way of personal items I should bring (clothing duffel, toiletries bag, CPAP, sleeping bag, pillow, and briefcase). He said that he has a good system for storing a student's belongings during training and what I want to bring along is fine, and that if there were other items I wanted to bring, he was sure he could make room. A gracious host, indeed. He's trained over 50 students so far and is sought after by many of the Central trainees.

Time for roll out was left up to me (how cool is that). We agreed that Saturday morning would work out well. It'll give the shop a chance to complete the service work on his tractor ('06 Volvo), and I can take care of a couple last minute details.

So far, I'm impressed with the Central Refrigerated program. I've been made to feel comfortable and welcomed. That means a lot to me. I hope the OTR training goes as smoothly...........I think it will.

I've decided to start a training thread under a Central heading. I'll be sure to post a link here on this thread.

    That's all for now.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hey Chompi,

The trainer is a pretty nice guy. Quiet, but pretty funny, and has a nice disposition. So far, I get along with him just fine and dandy.

I think he'll do a good job training me. If not, I'll make a change, but I don't see that happening.

I told him about my packing list and all is good. He even told me to add to it if there was something I want to bring along. I have enough on my plate for now. I don't need more stuff to carry around.

Thanks for all your help, chompi. :biggrin_25514: I'll have a camera with me.

Wedge that's great news, Susan and I are gonna keep up with that training thread that central terminals not that far from us, and were only about 6-1/2 weeks and through with school.
In response to an earlier reply from you we already have all endorsements and they even put em on AP except Hazmat won't post endorsement until background complete. Nobody at DDS said anything out of the ordinary. If it turns out a mess we'll let ya know.
    Good Luck,
    Randy & Susan
