Fruit and veggies definitely. I like salad with some chicken. No fast food for me. :biggrin_25513:

Don't blame you I don't like fast food either!
When I was a home care nurse and on the road every day I stopped 2 times in SEVEN years to get something to eat! I took food with me that was easy to eat while driving-well and quick too -as sometimes I didn't have alot of time.

You can eat decent but it takes time and commitment. It's so much easier at the end of a long day to just grab a burger rather than make some food. I get that but I also know the better I eat (healthier) the worse I feel when I do eat crap food!!:biggrin_25524:

Sometimes when you've had a rough day and are too tired to prepare something, eating at a restaurant is a welcomed break. Preferably at the end of the day. Eating a big meal, while you're expected to drive, will only make you sleepy once it hits your system.

Fast food has to be a last resort. :biggrin_2558:

    Wedge,

Don't get too complacent about your near-perfect scores for the written exams. The ones that will work you will be the Pre-Trip and the Parking Tests. Especially when they start going over the Pre-Trip inspections with you, pay a lot of attention. The manual does not go over every little detail that they test you on. As far as the parking tests, get comfortable (don't tense up in other words) in your straight backing skills because that is the general skill that will be reapplied to every other motion basically; you should have this down packed really quick. After that, focus on the parallel parking and the alley parking. But mostly the parallel parking. If you were doing the test in Florida I could give you a very good tip but I do not know if GA is different so I'm not gonna take a chance in steering you the wrong way. It sounds like you're really enjoying this experience so that is great! :D

I am a member of several forums (although I mostly just lurk) and I want to mention that you are one of the most supportive, positive, and friendly members of any forums I have participated in. You make others "want" to share their experiences. Respect and appreciation should be given where they are due. :biggrin_25514:

Thank you!!! and Welcome to TTR cuz I see you are new here!
I started here a while back when my (soon to be) ex started driving and my sister found the site. It was a great support and also I learned alot about the industry, regs, life style etc and then found out there are such great people here that are supportive but also FUN!! I have never been on a forum before (well except facebook blah) and I was FLOORED at how most are sincere and helpful but I also found some real friends here too!! And I really mean that-friends- people I 'talk' to outside of TTR or with in using PMing. I can't tell you how many meals I owe to drivers right now that if they ever make it to my town I have promised ( and will do!!)

So thanks again :biggrin_25514:cuz it really means alot that people notice my small part!!!

Welcome to TTR forum. There's a great group of people here. Just like a family you might say.

Thanks for the tips. Prior to my engineering career, I had about 15 years experience as a mechanic which should help me. The PTI is really a huge safety inspection. Checking everything that makes the vehicle safe, and operable.

As for backing, I wish that the final testing was comprised of only moving the rig around. I've had some experience with that. I'm worried about skips during the PTI testing. Hopefully, the memory won't fail me yet. :biggrin_25525:

Monday begins range practice, so I'll post on my progress.

since I am from a family of engineers.....I get your 'near perfection' about things-that's just your nature!
Will be intersting to hear how day one of being on the range goes!!

I'm more anxious about tomorrow than I was about day 1 of class. Something about having an audience always bugs me. I'll get over it.

Hey buddy! Sorry it's been a long time since I've gotten online but I've read your thread and it seems all is going according to plan. That's GREAT!

You must be looking forward to getting behind the wheel and running the BIG TRUCK on the range huh? You're gonna love it!!

Just remember to really optimize your practice time. By that I mean when you make a move (say a sight side or blind side park) and it doesn't work out, stop and rememeber what you just did so you can try something else the next time. I remember my first few days on the range I wasn't doing that and I'd come around again and not what I did last time so I had no reference point to change things around....LOL

Wishing you the best my friend!

Thanks Chris. I'll try and make you guys proud.:biggrin_255:

I'm a little nervous and I imagine that's normal. I wasn't wild about being pushed back a week, but that's the way their program works. I'll be glad when tomorrow gets here.

I read you're getting over 3k in miles a week. So in your estimation would you say that 2600-2800 mpw is an attainable goal?

I haven't asked you about your miles yet so I figured now that you've been out there a bit, you can fill me in. :biggrin_25525:
