Actually the Digital Hearing System that the doctor supplied me with is what will make the difference with the trainer. It sends the audio directly into the hearing aids, like talking on a hands free cell phone. The hearing aids provide a better overall quality of sound.

If I don't get a response from Central today, I'll contact my recruiter and find out what's going on.

Most companies want you to have at least 160 hrs. of instruction from a driving school. My school cost more than 3 times that amount and lasted for 3 weeks.

The only thing you get from a driving school is the basics in tractor trailer operation, and your class A CDL. The real training comes from being on the road with a company trainer, and your true education comes from actual experience.

I recommend you shop around when it comes to truck driving schools.

Well that depends a lot on you, and whether you'll have the means to prepare your own meals.

If you have access to a fridge, you can pick up supplies at a Walmart or any food store in the area and you can cook for yourself, or at least make sandwiches. If you're sharing living arrangements with others (which is most likely the case) you'll want to be sure that your food is still there when you go to make something to eat.

If your hotel offers a continental breakfast, take advantage of it. Keep that money in your pocket. If you decide to eat fast food at lunch it can get to be expensive. Each meal could cost you easily $5 - $7 so if you buy 2 meals out a day it will cost you at least $200 for the 21 days you're at school. I suggest that you avoid the fast foods if possible. When you're on the road that junk food will eat into your pay check, and it's not healthy to begin with. :biggrin_25512:

So plan on at least $75 per week in food if you plan on eating all your meals at McDonald's. If you go to the grocery store you'll save yourself a lot of money. Hope this helps. :biggrin_25511:

No News is No News :biggrin_25511:

    Hello Everyone.

I sent a follow-up e-mail to Central on Friday (this time to my recruiter) indicating that I'm ready to head back out with a trainer.

    Still no word. :biggrin_2556:

I used e-mail for the initial contact because I needed to forward some documentation to the training department. I would have figured to receive a response by now. :biggrin_2558:

I will start making phone calls early this week and find out what's going on. Hope they didn't forget about me.

    Stay tuned.

    Thanks for reading.
