Thanks for the birthday wishes, Sammycat.:biggrin_25514: My son is a great kid. I wish he could stay for more than 2 weeks. My daughter is flying in from Boston tonight. My youngest daughter just started a new job so she can't get away. Two out of three ain't bad.

I put a call in to the Safety Director in SLC yesterday. Had to leave a message. He didn't call me back. :biggrin_2552::biggrin_25510: I'll try one more time today and that will be it. There are not a lot of companies that will take me without a refresher course.

    We'll see what happens.

    Dave have any suggestions?

I am so glad you are having a good time and yes 2 outta 3 kids is GREAT!!:biggrin_25514:

PM Dave and ask him if he has any ideas for you- besides a refresher course I can't think of any and of course I only know what I learned from all you guys!

    Another Chance. :biggrin_25511:

    Hello Everyone.

It's been sometime since posted more than a sentence or two and figured I should bring you up to date on what's happening.

After I received my new hearing aids, I spoke with the head of Safety for Central Refrigerated. I mentioned to him that the training manager said that once I had my new instruments, I could pick up where I left off. Well it turns out that the training manager is no longer with the company and the Safety Director said that the standard procedure for a driver who has been off the road for more than 30 days is to start the program over again. :biggrin_2556: He closes our conversation with "I'll get back to you." Click. Well, no one can say I didn't hold up my end of the bargain.

So that was the old news. :biggrin_25518:

The new news is I contacted U.S. Xpress and spoke with a recruiter, asked whether my time since graduation mattered and she said it didn't. :biggrin_25525: I had an opportunity to meet my recruiter at their headquarters in Chattanooga, TN (very nice place :yes2557:). I will say that everyone that I have met at USX so far has been very nice, and extremely helpful.

So I'm in the process of putting together all of the documentation that must accompany my application to U.S. Xpress. With luck, I'll get it in the mail by tomorrow. :biggrin_255:

I must admit that I have been partially influenced by the thread started by NoCoCraig. He and his wife are teaming for USX and he can't say enough about how well they have been treated since they started their tenure with USX.

So that's where I stand at the moment. I'll be sure to keep you apprised of my progress.

    Thanks for reading.
