Don’t be so quick to discount Florida. Cypress truck lines/Sunbelt is a great option. I just passed my CDL test this morning after 4 weeks of class. I know they’re actively recruiting in the area too.

I read the Wisconsin CMV CDL Manual, this sites practice tests (awesome!) and cristcdl. I would not recommend crist. They have several (3-4 if i recall) poorly worded and incorrect answers to questions across general, air and combos. I do recall one of them that really irks me and i still get confused with is the allowable air leakage rate, 3 or 4 psi in a minute and under what circumstance. Another thing i didn't like about crist is it's very similiar to the actual Wisconsin exam where it keeps a running tally of correct/incorrect answers. I would much rather finish my test and then go over the summary like this sites practice tests do. Thanks to 66 college credit i don't get test anxiety and have found the study methods that worked best for me. It's wasn't putting the textbook under my pillow overnight and absorbing knowledge through osmosis... if only!

Another thing regarding your situation and a mistake i see repeated by drivers posting here, you do not need to share ANY of your medical information with your employer (hipaa). All they should need is that independent medical exam certificate stating that you can perform the essential functions of the position safely.

Companies discriminate just like people do and they very well could see your vision as a liability even though you trained yourself to be the most diligent driver ever. I'm not saying you were going to tell them I just wanted to forewarn you as I'm sure you already knew. One of the easiest ways is to ask questions in an interview with no written record. The crap people will ramble on about with the right open ended question is amazing! "Yeah? Expand on that could you? Tell me more. Interesting!"

I got my permit last month bud, thank you though! I used CristCDL… they do the running tally unless you click simulation. If you do simulation there’s no tally and no explanations. I did that the day before my test for 4 rounds.

My vision hasn’t been an issue so far, just my location and my background from 8+ years ago unfortunately.
