That's all? I thought it would be higher than that?

My experience. Ill be 30 in a few days, i could not wait to be an owner operator I was saving my money when I was teen working as an apprentice under my dad in metal fabrication. I bought my first truck when I was 25 every year I bought another truck. Now I own 5 trucks I run 3 for a friend And i am one thirds owner of a business me and two other friends acquired. The biggest issue why people rather be a company driver is very little headache and almost,no worries. As a business owner I suave to worry about everything at all angles. Not everyone is cut out to be an owner operator. You have to have drive the ambition must be there.

Thanks for the advice. I just turned 26, no debt and working on credit, no kids, recently got into a relationship while I was driving and I'm really not paying bills at the moment. I have a gut feeling that a lot of the maintenance problems with the riggs I can fix on my own, with more experience of course. Is it better to be an owner operator under a company or have your own authority?

The tax rate doesn't change between employees and business owners. Paying more in taxes means you made more. How is that a bad thing?

Being leased to a good carrier is an important stepping stone. I would not suggest going straight to having your own numbers.

Study the www.OOIDA.com website. It's a business website for the owner-operator.
