    $4 - $1 = $3/ mile to my truck
    $1.25 - $.125 = $1.125 to my truck.

That's how I look at it.

Again, these are just made up #'s for example only. Your post is exactly the reason I posted it that way. At a quick glance you proved my point. NOT a shot at you in any way. I have seen guys come and go doing exactly the same thing as I do. They say they are giving up too much % and go else where for less % and lose their ### while I am doing quite well.

Yes of course. Such is life. Gooberment. Has to have their cut. But it's really more than that. It's 300 bucks. To be able to run your own numbers and be your own boss. I think it's better than leasing onto someone else and them taking a cut out of every load you haul.

There are a bunch of answers here where the drivers need to stay company drivers.

As for the larger percentage, lots of it depends on what you get for the larger percentage. Is the insurance paid for? How about the plates? Are you charged any "Extra" fees? Then you have to figure out if it is worth giving up the larger percentage.

A little larger percentage for a steadier stream of income is also something to consider.

He's saying 90% of $1.25 is not as good as 75% of $4
All these larger carriers will take a cut off the rate before sending it to their brokerage department where it again gets cut, at this point the agent choose (assuming he has options available ) Wether to put load on a company truck or another carrier. Rate is set for company truck as far as how much profit agent can make. If he puts it on another carrier he can negotiate on how much he parts with. In either case, Wether you work for company or are independent then you have no idea what the initial rate was unless they screw up and send you the wrong paperwork.
Now all the major carriers must charge in the same ballpark or they would not be moving the same freight in the same lanes, so given that, we can simply assume that some carriers are more greedy than others, and if you play the game long enough this becomes rather blatant between agents.

yes thats correct , genius cause when you give up the dollar, you got 3 dollars left, when you give up 12 and a half cents you got 1.125 left. so would rather have 3 left or a 1.12
