I agree with that hand.... Tropper seems respectable enough to say he's got common sense.
Some troopers on the other hand are rude, prude and have that Attitude.
Trooper, I myself haul RGN ... Permitted loads ect... #1, Thanks for all that you all DO... In that part of our job's. You HELP make it easyer on us by 100%, and in a much safer manner.
In the reply to your post?
I have had troopers, and diesel bear pull up beside my driver door, hit the lights then SLOW down with me on the shoulder.
I like this method of rape.
It number one, get's our attintion PLUS lets traffic around US know to SLOW down and be aware that WE both are going to an OFF ramp or shoulder.
I alike the other hand, prefer you to Passenger side... Do business....
It's SAFER for you! And you are sure to get home to your wife and kid's if some dumb 4 wheeler hit's the DRIVERS side of my truck!
All the best,
Matthew
Ps,

Something to keep in mind. What a company driver or the general public think of as a simple $200 ticket, is not that for an owner operator. If he is paying his own insurance, a moving violation can cost him about $10,000 in increased insurance over the next 3 years. Lots of truckers deserve tickets (like the 85 MPH tailgating weaving in and out of lanes supertruckers) But if A guy is lost with bad directions and accidently makes a turn into the wrong street or ends up at a low weight bridge, or some low clearance and has to turn around. That driver is probably having a bad day and more than likely needs a break.
Oh yeah something else I would add. If I was in charge, Brakes out of adjustment would be an automatic 3 month suspension of driving privileges -
tell me about it !! how about this, brand new driver and it is very first week and it has been a bad one. gets pulled over friday night when the company promises weekends off and ends up getting a ticket for messing up his log on the previous month (training)over confusion about the last day of the month- which was a day off. they don't give you a ticket for forgetting to write last day of the month on your day off log. it i s called no record of previous seven days. $100.00. talk about no compassion and a better understanding of why most truckers do not like troopers

It's called raising revenue, I call it replenishing the do-nut fund, most cops write them to truckers because that is usually the end of it for the driver, other than it gets turned in to safety. Moving violations can cost you for years, both personally and at your job. It is considered a favor to not write you a moving violation.
Most of the time a patrolman has to have a reason to stop you other than a random check, which CMV enforcement can do.
I did say most of the time, I'm sure random checks can be done by anyone in law enforcement that is qualified if that LEO feels the urge.

Can you explain more to me in what you got wrote up for? I am always curious of what DOT is writing drivers up for.
It seems you are saying you didn't write that you was off duty on the last day of the month?? or did you not fill out an off duty log for the last day?
You have to account for every day from the time you start a company. If you are off duty you must fill out an off duty sheet. You can combine the days and if he wrote you up for combing off duty days into another month. He should not have done so. It is not against dot regulations to do this. It is usually a company policy.
If you don't want to explain that's cool. I just wonder what some of these officers are thinking.

I agree with this sentiment. If more patrol cars were unmarked they could actually follow people and find out who really is driving wreckless.

i don't mind saying , it was my fault... it was my first week, new truck, new routes, dispatchers who don't explain much, and so on. any way, my last day of training was a 29th. When i come in on a 2nd to start on my own, one of my many tasks for that day is updating log book. I was going to write 30-31 on last day but did not because i had sleeper berth time of midnght- 2.00 am on 30th. Anyway, i never got to the last page for some reason right then and when i looked back, i remember thinking that month has 30 days-in fact i even said that to the trooper. When he was looking at my log books, he was reading it and asking me questions where i had been and so forth trying to catch me in a lie. The whole thing felt like an interrogation and made strongly doubt that i had made the right decision to get into the trucking industry.
-
Oh that happens but you have to understand they won't be generous so remember update the logs before you leave the house or where ever you are!
You will be fine! Keep the logs updated though.
Have a great night

I would refer you not pull me over but if I have to be pulled over then I would prefer you pull along side me with the lights on, give a quick burp of the siren so I know it's me you are after. Then let me pull over at MY rate and then you can go in front or behind, I don't care. Probably in front, I just don't want you i front of me "SLOWING" me down. I think that is dangerous.

From peronal exp. after over 30 years on the roar in a truck I would have to say that the first option would be the best, the main reason I say this is that you as an oficer probably dont know what kind if weight the truck is carrying and that truck might not be able to stop as fast as you do and this is not going to do your patrol car any good
