Being Sued

Why not read it? This policy affects everyone. Many millions of dollars and many many women fought for Equal Opportunity in the work place. It is time for The trucking industry to grow up and enter the 21st century

 

Very long. Most people would have moved on by now but I applaud your patience.

 

As a federal investigator for the past 25+ years, I can tell you that comments posted on a public forum like this do NOT constitute actionable evidence of anything. They're not even a place to start, so I wouldn't worry about EEOC.

The thing is. We now live in a world where people claim false sexual harassment on a daily basis. And this false accusation can usually ruin the career for the accused.

It is no different in the trucking industry. Most companies, Prime included, take sexual harassment very seriously.

The reason they did the female to female thing was not only because they thought it'd be more comfortable for women but to get rid of sexual harassment problems whether false or true.

To show my example I will quote what Emulsified said in the other thread on this topic.

Now as Prime you have the ability to accept or deny your trainee/student. Why would a male trainer risk himself this when he can go the safer way? So even with this Policy changed, nothing will change at Prime. Especially considering the EEOC will watch Prime trainers like hawks. So all I see from this is even less women will find trainers at Prime because male trainers will be even more nervous then before.

 

It's all part of the crazy, overly-litigious society in which we live. Can't make something happen by good performance? Sue. Don't like the way your trainer spoke to you? Sue. Did he hurt your poor feelings? No problem...sue. All that happens in the end is the kind of over-protective, self-preservation behavior that Emulsified's friend exhibits.

It's sad.

 

Yep, there are two kinds of people in our society today. Ones that sue over everything and ones that live, learn and move on. Sure if someone is killed over negligence, the family deserves to be compensated. But all this little stuff is assinine and nothing but greed.

Money isn't that important enough to me to waste 3 years or longer in a courtroom. There's other ways to settle differences.

So what? You want Prime to force females students on trainers who don't want them?

I get to choose who stays or who goes on my truck. I've kicked three off mid-training and dumped 2 that didn't make it past the interview/introduction.

I'm willing to bet there are far more trainers that would rather stop training then to have someone forced into their living space.

Do I think a woman can do the job? He'll ya. However, I'm not going to be the one to train em at Prime.

 

Absolutely not. You should have the right to choose who you have in your truck. The issue is why this is even an issue!

You bet! And having trainers like you is what it's all about. You take an ethical view of your duties into your cab, as you should.

That is the problem. How did we get here?

Litigation brought all of us here. It really is a shame. There are plenty of people who can "do the job," and all it takes is a very small percentage of people to "ruin it" for the rest. It's truly a shame that everything we do has to be run by a lawyer before we do anything.

And I say that as one who was married to a lawyer for almost 30 years.

 

As a christian I personally could not and would not have a female in my truck for weeks on end. That is asking for trouble. I am divorced but still could not and would not even consider it/
