We did not team but my trainer still used me to get insane miles (which I enjoyed, by the way lol). I see training more like a probation step, if you don't rear end a school bus or jump off a cliff you can get your own truck, because you can't really learn anything in two weeks, maybe to use the qualcomm and that's pushing it.

in school, they told me..."tire inflation should be between 95-100 or whatever the manufacturer specifies". it should almost be the same with training...whatever the trainer specifies. company should might give a min/max of time...but trainer has final say. since every trainer's different...not to mention every company...it's had to judge. the companies i'm looking at say a few weeks. while i may not feel like i'm ready, or think that i am...it really should be up to the trainer. at the same time, if u get saddled with a bad trainer that stretches things out just to get paid for team time...then, that probably isn't right either. and dis-reputable companies aren't gonna complain much...cuz...hell, they paying half of the team with training wages. why should they complain?

OK, since you're the "grunt" and brand new, you need to suck it up and listen to the trainer. Actually, the more wheel time for you, the better off you are, right ?It's not a perfect world out there, a lot of trainers are a joke. Just remember, it's only for a short while. So get your training, and remember.....your trainer has a supervisor.

I had fun when at the end of my training we ran it as a team. He pushed me hard to be a good driver and in the end it felt like it was a good way to repay him. He made a huge check that last week...something like 2500 gross. I was happy for him and when I got my truck he checked it over and made sure I was set up. I remember him "raiding" the shop...he knew what I might need in a pinch and made sure I had it.

Sounds like you had an excellent trainer.

Doesn't work that way. Back when I was a trainer, I had little or no control over holding back a student co-driver. My home terminal safety department would route them in after 5 weeks, even if I said he/she wasn't ready. They made the decision whether or not to upgrade them to 1st seat, or send them out for more training.
