If you were satisfied (believed) you wouldn’t spend the time in lengthy defense.
State it and leave it. As that’s far stronger.shogun Thanks this. -
In other news I scored a made in the Philippines Cobra 148 GTL in mint condition today!!! with an unlocked clarifier and the old school dual switch extra channels added, one of the guys that talks here locally is going to go through it for me, it's coming from a friend of his in Utah who hasn't used it since he switched over to a Yaesu and started doing more ham stuff, but it's always been a rockin radio! He's a retired Boeing electronics engineer who's been into radios since the seventies , he was the one who set this 148 up originally for his friend in Utah back in the 90's, he also has his own scope thing ( oscilloscope?) and Spectrum analyzer , and a bunch of other stuff I can't pronounce lollll, he only tunes and fixes radios for friends and the locals around here because he doesn't need the money or the headache of customers, it's a Hobby for him and always has been, I know he probably doesn't know what he's doing either but since I got the radio for a $150 and he's not going to charge me anything to check it out I figured I'd be able to talk to the end of my driveway and it would look cool sitting on the shelf at least, he had never heard of the famous Looney- Tune so I sent him one of his "pay attention" videos, he said he could only make it through about 4 or 5 minutes of it before turning it off, he said old Looney-Tune had some valid points but was making one of the simplest communication devices on the planet sound complicated by grandstanding and over exaggerating everything, he also wondered what Lonney would do if he ever had to work on anything that was actually technically challenging.....but that was just his thoughts, I'm just excited about getting an old school 148 again I haven't had one of those in my hand since the 90s myself....
shogun, Slowmover1 and Timin770 Thank this. -
Those recommendations don't make him any money nor do they make me any money. Anyone who thinks they can purchase a radio and take it to somebody and have that person modify it and increase the efficiency of the transmitter or receiver is quite delusional. I simply Point people in the direction to get the maximum value for the dollar spent so that I can listen to you from a greater distance away as it costs you less money to talk the greater distance. If anyone wants to throw their money down the toilet for less performance they're entitled to do so but I get highly offended when they try to drag other people down the same path.
Contrary to what you might believe I'm actually here to help people and I'm not here to promote anybody's business. On a side note I do encourage other technicians to step up their game. -
I to admit.that rabbi wants to help..At times some dont like his comments and others do..
Im sure there are valid points on all sides but to many wanna puff their chests just cause they think they are correct...Not everyone is....We all make mistakes or are misunderstood or misinformed and learn from it at some point.. -
