And I can put a 7-liter Oldsmobile Toronado drivetrain in a VW Beetle.

An in-line DSP module can be used between your transceiver and your Altec-Lansing Model 19.

Seems like overkill don't you think? All show and no go. Some thing are better in moderation.

Wow. Now that's an example of excessive capacity put to no good end.

BTW, I wonder how he steers and stays on his engine perch at the same time :)

    Update:

I've had the radio up and running for a while in my shop now and I couldn't be more happy, I will say this, if you turn the mic gain all the way up and eat the microphone with the echo set at an obnoxious level Plus talk as loud as I do you will sound over modulated, however screwdriver says you would be surprised at how many people and drivers actually want that loud obnoxious sound, so with that said I have my mic gain set at 3/4 and I hold the astatic 636 about two inches away from my mouth and the thing is absolutely crystal clear, if my wife talks on it you can turn the mic gain all the way up with no Distortion but she has a much softer voice than I do

Also the side band on this radio is much better than older galaxies, it still drifts a little bit until the radio warms up but stays on frequency after that very well, I did find turning the power down to about half when on Side band keeps the finals form getting too warm which can also cause drift...

I'm so happy with this radio it may just stay in the shop and never find its way to my big brown truck at work

Anyways like I said I'm extremely happy with the work Bells did, in fact I already sent him another radio to do some mods on and I'll probably be ordering another one for the brown truck if the 99v2 never comes out of the shop...

    Order with confidence Guy's

636L is what’s mated to mine..

Tough to beat a Galaxy on audio in truck driver land.

    For “talk” it’s still king.

(Not exclusive to this brand, but it’s not hard to understand the appeal).

That’s the thing about those echo boards, everyone likes to turn them up too high. I think they sound the best with just a tad of echo (reverb). Glad you are happy with your new radio, and thanks for the update.

Exactly I set mine to where there's just a hint of echo, it's so little I don't even need to turn it off on Side Band, in fact I was shooting skip a little bit this last weekend and I had a guy in Arizona (1200+ miles away) actually tell me that it's nice to hear somebody that knows how to adjust the echo to where it actually sounds good and it's not obnoxious and annoying

    Have a blessed day
