Laying the straps under, causing the straps pulling from the botton will allow the pipes to shift so much easier compared to over the top first causing a pull down from the top.
Alot of loads you will need a strap pusher to get the strap under after the load is on but it really holds the load better.
Also if you can have winches on both sides of the trailer makes a lot of difference.

I've never used chains on pipe(PVC), but even when belly wrapped, I have always put a twist in the strap, and never had one come loss, but I've also have always replaced straps with even the slightest ware

Belly straps do not count in your aggregate calculations. Also build a bulkhead at the front and rear and tarp over it (if needed)as so it doesnt puncture your tarps.

Incorrect. Belly straps count for weight but not for length. Unless it's only one layer high.

When possible, run the strap under the pipe, then up and over and back so your actually looping the pipe.
This will hold pipe tighter than any other way. Just make sure the strap doesn't overlay it's self. -
One of the best things to do on pipe is choke the load.
Usually use three chokes on 40+ foot pipe.
A choke is a wrap around the pipe load only, it does not anchor to the trailer. A 2 in. Or 3 in strap and portable ratchet work fine. This basically turns the load into a single package. Keeps the load tight. You will still gut or belly strap, but don't fully tighten them until you tighten the chokes. -
its gonna be a real trick to build a bulkhead on a 6 foot tall load of pipe, I think you are confused with greasy bars,
