Consider seasonal employment with annual layoffs. Draw unemployment and spend the winter in Florida as do concrete mixer drivers from Michigan. I drove for a canned goods labeling plant that had regular layoffs during the winter after fruit packing season. A couple of senior drivers volunteered for the layoff allowing me to keep working. One of those senior drivers did not realize he did not have health insurance during his layoff.
