Well sir it was the opinion of many people like you that ran off quite a few of us NoCoders when they first started hitting your precious airwaves. You know when you still had to pass code to get into HF. We had very little of warm welcoming into your precious hobby. And just to think... Now they allow those NoCoders onto HF now....
Hmmmm wonder how many die hard Coders that are silent key now are rolling in their graves because of this.....
Wonder how many that have your attitude now will go silent key and never get to know some of those NoCoders as a friend? Maybe even some of them would give you their shirt off their back as long as they knowing that they are helping somebody to advance further into their hobby that they loved?
I must also take the time to point out what a excellent elmer had passed onto me when I first got into ham radio back in 94
"Any monkey can buy a real radio (Boat Anchors) but they have to develop into a radio operator to be able to use them. But heck this day in age of digital radios (Transceivers) these monkeys only have to learn how to push a PTT to get on the air."
I would have to thank old Louis for teaching me a lot about the hobby. Heck I have long since lost touch with him. Heck he may even be silent key by now..... But you never know... I may just have to get back into the hobby to see if my friend is still transmitting....

I would also like to take the time for another person I have came across on this forum. George after now talking to you through PM I have realized that I still miss a part of this hobby that I have turned my back on. Many thanks.... Looking forward to talking to you on the air.

Bill104.... would like to take the time to thank you for showing me how ignorant some of the operators on ham can be. It was people like you that turned me away from the hobby....But I have a challenge for you as a coder.... Key off.... First with straight key (If you own one... If not I will gladly give you one out of my collection to do this) Second with paddles...(More than likely this is what you have in your collection.... but if not... I will give you one to do this)
Fair warning though.... This No Coder studied hard.... I hear sentences.... not letters. Good luck to you if you decide to take this challenge. And that is sincere.

O BTW to the others out there. The question pool is always the same. All you have to do is have a memory to pass a test. But as in Louis words, my friend. "It takes a operator/technician to be able to put those answers/theories to actual use. So just because a person has a license this day in age. Does not make them a operator."

    KE5WDP Thanks this.

Mike you need to send that CB to me so that I can check it for the FCC certification for CB use .......

It might take a few years for me to get it back to you ....

The IC-718 is a nice radio in spite of what FIST and the code a halics might think of it's CW proformance .......

    BTW ...

    Good morning bill ....

The question pool changes from time to time if it didn't there would be questions about spark gap ..... and being a FIST member .....

Good morning George. Looks like I need to go to the storage shed and bring some of the old boat anchors out... Dial them up on the variac for safety measures.

That does look like a nice rig to me but may be to far advanced for my simple taste of AM..... LOL... .man to have to go back and find out what rigs are good compared to what I was using back in mid 90's.

Looks like closest test session will be around Feb 4th..... And I am planning on using my old call sign being it has not been put back into use since I let it expire.... If it was good enough for me as a no coder when I first got into it... Then it will be good enough for me again. Thank god for the vanity call signs.

Come on now, if I had wanted another Galaxy, I would have bought one! (by the way, I'll put my Galaxy type radios up against anybodies for proper tune and alignment). I don't even have a antenna up yet, nor have I studied in preparation for taking the test. (course it is possible this radio will work on 11 meters:biggrin_25525:. Just ran across this, got a good deal (power supply, base and hand mic included) so I bought it. I do have a tower.......but I have to take it down and get it home first!!! This project is a long term deal. Too many other "irons in the fire" right now.
