If you have room on the frame try Double Eagle, best made, high quailty install, quiet, they know what they are doing and cost the same or less than other APU's and no sales tax.

My boss bought the ccs, same one Flying j use to sell. We got finaced at a company on the west cost called cascade solutions. They have offices at the 49er T/S in Sacramento CA, one at the T/A in Coburg OR and one at the Jubitz T/S in Portland OR. We told them we were looking for a great deal on a APU and they looked for used ones for us. Then a company out of Canada was pulling out of the U.S. and needed to sell all the APU's they had bought for all there new trucks. We got the unit installed for 6000$ new. Had to go to Portland to get the work done at TEC equipment down the road from the Jubitz T/S. Might want to check with them, they come accross great deals. Just stay at the hotel next to Jubitz T/S, the Portlander, great place, great bar, and they will run you back and forth to the truck dealer. Thats if you can get a load to go out that way.

THANKS STUMP! WHATS THE NAME OF THE FLYING J UNIT AND MAYBE A NUMBER TOO CALL.
SIX GRAND IS A GOOD PRICE FOR A GOOD APU!
I FOUND IT, SOUNDS NICE1 "http://idlealt.net/flying-j-cab-comfort-system/
i live in k-town, tn ill buy one for $6,000.00buddyvuk Thanks this. -
STOP! Can you get it worked on any where in America? Or only at a FEW Flying J's? Very few J's have a shop! The RigMaster is a POS! Maintenance intensive! and that's what that unit is, a redesigned RigMaster! Research that unit fully before you jump on the "cost"!
Carrier runs all the time but is about as good as the TriPak by ThermoKing and BOTH of those units can be worked on all over the country by their respective dealers and you'll find that they both have more shops than Flying J!
That's part of the thing about APU's. Where to have service done, NOT the price! Sure you'll save it looks like $1000+ but will you "save" that money down the road when the unit quits and you have to go to a truck stop or a few places for repairs. Will the Flying J have the parts on hand or have to get them shipped in? ThermoKing and Carrier have the parts on hand!
Your new business plan will show that you want a reliable unit and a unit that you can get service for in more than a "few" locations. If the APU isn't working, you're hauling around a heavy boat anchor!
There are several more APU units out there but I had a mechanic that works on all of them tell me the most reliable ones he's worked on is the TriPak by ThermoKing. I loved my TriPak after using the first 3 generations of that POS RigMaster! With the RigMaster you can look forward to oil changes every 100 hours with that Kubota engine! That's every 10 days of use if it runs for 10 hours while on line 1! The air filter gets clogged up pretty fast too. AND it's the nosiest APU I've heard out there!
The TriPak and Carrier units go for 1000 hours for the FIRST oil change then 1500 after that! Looks like that $1000 savings just went out the door in oil changes!
Do NOT let the cost of the unit guide your decision but look into them better than a "deal" -
Like Rollover said saving money and taking the cheap way out can cost more in the long run, remember you get what you paid for. Everyone wants to take the cheap way out but it comes at a price. Sure you may pay more initially for something but it'll more than likely save you money in the long run. Didn't Rigmaster go out of business?
buddyvuk Thanks this. -
Like I said, get a generator like Double Eagle sells, also ICT and Powertech, not a unit with all the controls integrated in one unit. one circuit board in the Carrier POS cost almost $800 keep it simple. You can get a whole new roof mount for less than $600 and it will keep you cool in 110 degree heat. The 3 cyl Kubota will run for 35,000 to 50,000 hours, mine is so quite I can not hear it when a truck parked next to me is running. Give them a call, you might be surprised at the cost.
KB3MMX, buddyvuk, childerscarl1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
