I see "worst" trucks all the time..... On the back of a wrecker. All brands with the same basic problems too, electronic and or sensor failure of some kind.
International was always known as a workhorse, sadly the EPA and use of electronics turned them into the laughing stock of trucking. I have a friend who parks his Mack beside of my bucket of bolts, he spent lots of $$$$ getting that emissions crap lined out, finally deleted it so he could work the truck. 2011 model I think.
None are perfect, it's a gamble I guess. But Pete, KW, & Western Star would be my pick, but that's me.

Whoa, ho, wait a minute, hold on here. Old Macks suck? I'm not sure where to start there. You can't be serious. Mack has been around for over 100 years. I've driven several, and been around many more, it simply was the best truck made.Tombstone69, bzinger, Dan.S and 4 others Thank this.

Mack is owned by Volvo---and in many instances they do share the same motor---just different color and ID---But---they are not built together or with same parts---Mack nameplated trucks are still built in Pa--while Volvos(at least for now)are built in Va
And while back in the day---Macks may have rode harder than some-----SUCK? seriously----There was a reason why just about every freight company in the country was Mack exclusive----24/7 slip seat operations---you couldn't kill em.....Comfort and style was not as big a concern years ago----but in all my years out here--with the exception of a brutally overbuilt 3406---I've never had a truck that could outpull my 75 R---with it's maxidyne---6x4
3:90Rears---turning 2900+rpm---loud--dirty--rough---but dependable and tough as nailsTombstone69, haycarter, 201 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Did that one have a top speed of about 50?
Dan.S Thanks this. -
LMAO----you would think---but run it over in your head---
6x4--500+hp---turns jus about 3k rpm? considering it had 10x20 bias ply tires on split rims---probably shouldn't ever run over 50--add a no it all newby kid(when I first got it)...lolMACK E-6 Thanks this. -
That looked like a 237 and probably a straight 5 speed. The 1st trucking job I had, I drove a '75 R600, 300 and 6 speed, but the "spare" truck, #47, was a truck like this, and manual steering. We'd put off telling the boss of problems with our regular truck, because then we'd have to drive #47. It obviously didn't have the power of the 300, but did better than all the other small motor trucks. This truck, while a miserable ride ( with a 24 ft. City dump trailer) was unstoppable. UNSTOPPABLE!!

Hey Semi---maybe it is angle pic is taken from---but from look of air cleaner---and width of windshield....that pic says U model to me? But Im old and need new glasses---lol
But does look more like a sidewinder to me?.201 Thanks this. -
I believe Lenscrafters offers specials from time to time, nope, regular R model. The "DM", or a "U" model straight dump, was the rock hauler of choice in the 70's and 80's. EVERYBODY used them. U models had the cab right over the left fuel tank.
