I have a small netbook with streets & trips (just upgraded to 2013) with gps. That I use in conjunction with rand McNally map, and my own experience.
    It's not truck specific,
I also use a plug in for streets, truckstops plus. Downloaded at www.truckstopsplus.com
30 bucks I think. Adds all the truckstops, scales, truck washes etc. As well as low bridges to streets & trips.

Weatherbug gets a beautiful update this summer. Its a best one step app update I have ever saw. I use it all the time. Very useful radar view, weather alerts, comprehensive current weather data.

    Not a app so much.
I have a galaxy note 2 (she says her name is "Galaxy, like the starry night").
Anyhow the Galaxy note 2 has what's called S Voice. It takes voice commands.
I just bought a Platronics Voyager blue tooth device. Not a over the head headset, but over the ear type.
With a press of button on earpiece it activates S Voice.
Hands free, I can tell her to make calls.
Answering just by saying answer or ignore.
Can send texts hands free just by speaking.
Now that can be tricky, sometimes she doesn't always interpret well.
    She'll even tell jokes.

    I also use Astroplayer.
I use it specifically for listening to audio books.
It has the ability to let me bookmark multiple books.
I usually have 2 or 3 books that'll I bounce around "reading" as mood fits me.

I caught up on that series at home this weekend. 2 seasons on dvd last weekend and friday. Had to watch the current year on Amazon prime. I watch movies and series dvd that I have moved to the computer on the road. Data is high and when in Canada, not much choice.

Capthook, that Overdrive's Trucker Tools has most of what you are looking for in one app! Should try it out, I love it!

weatherbug is the only app you need. nothing else compares. it's the only app that distinguishes rain from snow. unless accuweather changed to reflect that also.

mydattruckstop. lists rest areas, cat scales, truckstops, walmarts, and washes. and a couple others.

droidtruckerstop. shows dot scales and major truckstops.

copilot truck. on my android tablet. phone also.

gps tools. it has a compass and other things. kinda cool to watch. also on my tablet.

netflix for movies. redbox and motel6. somewhere there's a mcdonalds within walking distance that has a redbox. can't remember where though. i emailed redbox but got no response back.
