my phone is the verizon samsung note 2. my tablet was an acer. but it didn't last long. apparently the motherboards and gps chips are piss poor quality. 15 minutes from power on before gps worked. when i get home. it's getting exchanged and be up for sale. bought an asus. and it's 100 times the tablet.

i came back out on the road. 2 1/2 years ago. started with google nav. i quickly found out about copilot. and bought it. used it for 6 months on the phone. LOVED IT. but then the phone started wearing down. had it almost 2 years at that point. then i bought the rand. they make a great atlas. right. but their gps is nothing to love. then i seen the pcmiler. looked the same as copilot. so i bought it. the price was cheap too. it lasted 2 years. but i got my hands on another from amazon since my unit is no longer sold. now it's the 7 inch model but still the same price. i paid 100 from amazon for my 4 inch.

NOW, i have a 10 inch tablet. for copilot and load boards. it's zip tied to the trim in the roof. where i have a more viewable experience.

now take this comment with a grain of salt of however you want. but there are lots of stories about people going down wrong streets. and people complaining about us idiots following our gps blindly. and whatever else you want to complain about. but i've had no stories to tell about my gps. the parameters are set. and it has yet to steer me wrong. there ARE times where i try to take a different route that i think would be faster. but then i end up on a street i shouldn't be. low bridge or weight restricted bridge. THEREFORE, I LISTEN TO MY GPS. cuz it knows the streets better then me.

and then there's the guys that brag becuase their more expensive gps's can do more then my cheapo. BIG DEAL. whatever your gps can do. there's an app for that. FREE. on my phone.

copilot and pcmiler are the same company. and as long as the software is available. i no need or desire to use any other brand. and for those of you that want to knock me down. becuase i follow my gps blindly. WELL, at least i have no stories to tell. YET. like i said. it knows the streets better then me.

what some of you don't realize. also. is that parameters need to be set. if you just pull the unit out of the box and drive away. well, HERE'S YOUR SIGN. LOW BRIDGE. becuase you didn't set the parameters.

2 1/2 years and i have nothing to complain about. tried one other brand for 2 weeks and that was 2 weeks too long.

copilot may cost $150. but that's the only time i've paid. and i'm a tinkeritis with electronics. my tablets. and phones have been wiped numerous times. and copilot has been lost and downloaded numerous times. but i've only paid once. and now i have it on both phone and tablet..

and copilot has improved on there app now. now i can transfer the maps onto my pc before wiping my units. and transfer back to unit. before. there would be glitches. but not anymore. saves me the hassle of having to download that 1.5 gigs of maps everytime i wipe my electronics.

I image you're a slave to the machine. But copilot does sound like it's worth trying. I used Trips and Streets several years ago and it was helpful but I could do the same on the RM MC Atlas, saw no big advantage to booting up my notebook, so I quit using S&T after a short time....

But I love Google Street View, it's what it is, like being there... I know I've said that 10 times already so here I've said it again.

Now I have this new Android Verizon (Straight Talk Wireless) phone and Google SV works just as well as my tablet.

google is a nice app. it has it's advantages. but as far as routing goes. it's not designed for trucks.

for instance, lovell wyoming sends loads to reno nevada. would you follow google????

I'm liking what I've read on the copilot.
I was tossing the idea around of getting one of the cobra or rand McNally stand along gps units.
Still really like my paper map and streets & trips with gps.
My note 2 does a fair job with gps. But if I don't have a good signal or none at all...then no mapping.
I am kinda liking the idea of copilot for more intercity routes like Chicago with its abundance of low bridges.
That and can apparently set height and length, as well as hazmat.
But like you said. In order for it to work, have to set the parameters.
Still wish they had a free trial period. ..call me cheap.

lol well I never said I "follow" Google. I simply use street view to get a glimpse of the area.

I rely on my paper MC Atlas for routing and clearances and make a phone call if I'm not sure.

Snowwy... with copilot, once you plot in a route, can you save that map for off line viewing? So dont necessarily need to be online or have gps on?

For the Note 2 guys, I've noticed an issue with slow GPS fix.

Trick one is to turn of the GPS, then back on again. This works most of the time.

Trick two is to root it and run a custom ROM like "Jedi Master". The GPS will work flawlessly from then on with almost instant location fix.

copilot is a full fledged map.downloaded to your device. there is no online internet. but you can't see it if it's not turned on.
it also gives you 3 multiple choices for routing. forgot to mention that. and you can add multiple stops like any other gps. it also gives you speed for the highway and warning if you go over. those are free.

copilot is my constant daily driver. only time it gets turned off is when i'm in the sleeper.
