Helluva talker. Haven’t used it since 2005.

Might be that teeny-tiny LEDs sparkle during transmit. So little and so far apart in time one wonders if it happened.

 

I figured that while in a campground, your best bet might be a quarter-wave stinger on the roof of your truck with a coax going to the trailer. However, since you trailer is aluminum-skinned, it might make a better ground plane with that base you've pictured.
