Best CB?

Yeah maybe, I wondered why a 75 watt increase with a 4 watt dead key was 107, adds up to 79 on my calculator. I'll put a power meter on it one day and check back in. That telex 56 I got has never gave me any issues though, love that thing, clear as a bell and always has been, as opposed to astatics. Everyone I know that has had astatics has to have them rewired every few months, wouldn't have one. I assume that's why pilot is sellin em for 49 bucks now!

yep its called cheaper everything turner went downhill years ago the way you tell if its a original is see if its heavy and has telex turner on back

 

Out of the new mics the Astatic sounds a little better than the new RK56 on my Galaxy.
I tried a Ranger SRA-198 and it sounds better than the rest. Although they are less expensive i think the Ranger performs better.
The Astatics you can buy online for 20 some bucks.
I found the Ranger online for 24 bucks shipped. Most radio shops sell them for around 50 bucks.

 

How far you suppose 300 watts RMS on a.102 whip will let me talk?

 

I run a General HP 40W and a Predator 10k with the SWR's set 1.2 across em all...recieves like a beast and gets out there like a beast. As for an antenna...get what suits you. I'm not a Firestick hater , but they're no good for what I do. We go through alot of tree's and things like that down hall roads that eat em like lunch.

 

When the skip is rolling, I've talked to Europe on 5 watts...

 

Mother nature can be a hell of a helper when shooting skip...someone with a Cobra 25 and the jankest antenna set up can talk across the country.

 

Now y'all lost me on that. I've never understood much about skip. Always just used 19 no side bands or anything. I know how ham operators talk across the country and stuff but what do ya mean by the skip is rolling?
