Yea I have started looking around for a new CB. If some one has a newer used one they want to sell me let me know. I hate buying new things. Feels like I am wasting money as I waslk out the door and it depreciates.

Are those Galaxy's good. I ahve of course heard of them but I never really cared about CB's till I have to go buy one. My old one lasted a long time. Then I was switching companies and moving all at the same time and I cant find it.

A new cobra 25 or 29 for what your wanting to spend will do you a good job. Used radios are a little shaky, I've had a couple of good ones and a couple of bad ones in the past. You get what ya pay for.

Yeah, I highly recommend one. There good quality radios and even though there will always be some controversy as to whether there legal and all, I say just use it on the regular CB channels and you shouldn't have a problem. I used to have a galaxy 73v. It cost me around $400 with mods and all at the time. I probably paid too much for it, but I was stupid and really wanted to fit in with all the other guys I ran with at the time. It was a great radio and people would always comment on how strong and clear it sounded. Oh and don't forget, a good radio will only transmit with a good quality antenna.

well galaxy's are not cheap.... but they are great radios, if you want one you know is legal, get the dx series radios. they are legit CB's and if you ever plan on getting it worked on.... they can be amazing when your done, they use the same chipset as 10m radios because they used to be. they had to turn down some features to get them to pass fcc's regulations for CB

Ok--a dumb question from a lady? What matters more--the cb you have or the antenna? What makes the cb reach further i guess is what i am asking? is it the cb itself or the antenna? Is it better to have 2 antennas? Just wondering....

A good antenna will make your radio get out further. Your antenna is 90% of your radio.
My favorite radio is the Uniden 78 XL
