Best cellular provider for OTR?

Really need to use Correct Terminology here.
Verizon does not have 4g Coverage.
They have 4gLTE which > 4g

ATT and TMo have done a good job of confusing most folks. 4G vs 4gLTE.

Nobody can touch Verizons LTE Coverage, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself at Att Sprint TMobiles and Verizons Websites.

My Sister who lives in Temple TX, has ATT, she just got a Galaxy S3, she's mad she can't get LTE.
I live in a tiny town 65 miles south of KCMO, and I get LTE at home, not like I'm home much anyway, but that's OTR for you.

 

Verizon has the best coverage but customer service sucks. also for those grandfathered in on the unlimited they are making it where you will start to lose coverage with your internet and when you call in they tell you that you need to upgrade and when you upgrade you lose the unlimited....t moblie would be my second pick. as they have a small deal with verizon for network use so you can still get some service in dead zones that verizon has coverage in. i would go with a boost phone before att or sprint.

 

T-Mobile is a GSM carrier and Verizon is a CDMA carrier, their networks are not compatible with each other. The only other nationwide GSM carrier other than T-Mobile is AT&T. I think T-Mobile phones will roam on the AT&T network but I'm not sure.

 

I suggest if you can live without a smart phone to get verizon mobile hot spot and get a straighttalk phone that runs on verizon's network, you'll be covered for voice and internet most anywhere and will save $50 to $60 a month vs any service with a smart phone, it works and saves a lot of money, you just don't get the best phones, but I use my laptop for internet so it works for me

 

I'm paying $50/month for hotspot and $45/month for phone both of which are just regular sales tax and no usage tax i.e. high ### tax that complete plans charge, so I'm paying $100 month for both all said and done, and you want find any complete plan that is going to cost less than $150/month by the time its said and done with taxes etc.. like I said only con is you don't get the latest and greatest phone, but I talk on my blue parrot and use internet on my laptop so its a good way to go

 

If you are going to call out people for inaccurate information, please get it right. You are correct, however, when you state "Verizon does not have 4g Coverage".

The LTE currently implemented in the US is pre-4G, aka "3.5G", "3.9G", or other such stuff. Sprint's WIMAX (such that they have implemented) falls into this category, as well. They do use 4G technology, and the ITU (due to pressure from the wireless companies) has allowed these technologies to be marketed as "4G".

LTE-Advanced, OTOH, is true 4G. Both ATT and VZW have committed to start rolling out LTE-Advanced this year. True 4G has download speeds in the 100 Mbps-1 Gbps range.

The point is, what is "fast enough"? Sitting here at my desk, 20+ miles outside of Pittsburgh, my phone gets faster speed from my AT&T LTE signal than it does from my WiFi AP 20 feet away (18 Mbps vs. 13 Mbps).

Really doesn't make much sense to say I posted inaccurate info, when what you posted says, otherwise.

Besides it doesn't matter anyway, because if he's looking for 4g with Verizon he's gonna be looking a long time.
18Mbps is quite slow for LTE.

I have sprint and have trouble all the time, even on the interstates. I call and complain and they always seem to have an outage in the area that I am in...likely story.

I have raised chaos with the complaints department and they are now telling me the problem is that I am constantly moving. I thought that was the point of MOBILE phones, maybe I'm just stupid.

Yes, they do have unlimited internet but what good is that when it hardly ever works? When it does manage to find a signal, it's SLOW as can be. I gave up on Sprint's data and got a Verizon 4G hotspot, I get 5Gb per month for $50, it's reliable and very fast. As soon as my contract is up with Sprint, I am running straight to Verizon and never looking back.

Moral of the story...Sprint is great if you like to throw money away.

No clue about that phone but can share my experience with my Motorola Razor max, have had many phones in my life and this has to be the best one I have ever had and battery life that blew my mind, expensive but for me it was worth it.
