All the talk about the sulfur in fuel being so good, I use to do a valve job at least twice a month and we were in a 6 bay shop, after they took out the sulphur, no more valve jobs, 50% less turbos replaced. I miss the good old days.
2% bio fuel has been proven to be better that any fuel aditive combination.
The engine is designed to run on a certain cetain number fuel, why do you think you know more than the engineer that designed the engine, but then again you learned it on the CB.
Best cetane booster???

Would these be the same engineers that worked on the "07" emissions crap engines ?? Oh I forgot the "010" emissions ones are better . Better than crap, something to be proud of!
For what we are paying for these trucks I'd say the design and engineering sucks! -
John, you talk about biofuels, yet almost every bio fuel I have seen carries a cetane number quite a bit higher than straight number 2. So wouldn't that contradict what you are saying, the engines aren't engineered to run bio either, yet you still suggest it.

What a crock of ####, Yeah the sulfer in the fuel caused the turbos to go out and valves to need adjusting more. LOL!!!!! Maybe it was faulty turbos and the guy didn't know how to set valves in the first place that caused all these problems, I highly doubt the qaulity of the fuel would. Sulfer helped with lubricity and with no sulfer in the fuel you NEED to ad something to replace it weather it be an addiditive or engine oil and yes the engines are designed to run a on a certain cetain level but I would bet you that most of the diesel you buy now days won't even meet that cetain rating without an addiditive in it.Last edited: Sep 23, 2012

The engines did die after they took the lead out, until they changed to hardened valve seats.

I bet no one can even explain what cetane is or the difference between it and octane without using the google!
Thread was about cetane, not lubricity BTW.
Money is better spent on oil if putting extry stuff in your tank makes you feel good. 2stroke oil or plain old 30W w/o additives. Anyone know the cetane rating of 30W oil?
I thought so..... -
I have used Conklin's Diesel Plus for three years with great success.

Well there is no difference between cetane and octane rating. Both are rated on a 100 point scale and with both the high the number the shorther the ignition delay. Do I know the cetane rating of 30W? No but I am sure it SUCKS! I am sure the diesel straight from the pump with no additive will ignite fast then diesel with 30W. That is why I run bio diesel and cetane boost and dont cheap out on my $30,000 motor and burn out oil in it. To each his own, I just think that is not a smart thing and I will never do it....
