Suggestion: after you spend about 8 months running for Swift in either dry van or reefer -- start looking for opportunities within Swift's intermodal division.

Intermodal -- "Where the rubber meets the rail"

Chicago is an intermodal town, and intermodal opportunities should be there.

Why?

After you get some OTR experience -- with intermodal, you will spend more time backing up a trailer -- and less time just flying down the interstate.

And as a beginning driver -- you need that backing practice.

I ran for over a year in Schneider's intermodal group. It's good experience.

Not every driver out there has intermodal seat time -- so that experience also helps you stand out from other driver applicants, later on with future job opps.
