I just don't understand why people can't keep their ego's at check..... We do not ALL possess ALL the knowledge there is to have in this life, no one does, or can. Your right/I'm right arguments are a waist of everyone's time on this forum. Calling each other names is a judgment, to which we all have our right, I guess but, it makes one look unprofessional. No, I am not perfect,,,no one is, or can be....

Ok. Honest question. I see some of my posts got removed. It said bickering removed.
I honestly did not try to make sound like I was doing that.
Was just pointing out a few facts and backing Cpape's post. Sorry that it came out that way..

Told yah, come to Florida and play golf and you have a driver, will stick the coach gun up on the dash and no one will not let you follow on.

I just replied that he should re read your post slowly and every word.
I also said you ran a good company in the midwest.
I guess when I posted re read slowly it got me in trouble..
There were some posts by the orginial poster that were border line and some made comments about his tag line and practicing it..

I had made a secret pact with myself to stop joining threads about lease purchase. It is just sort of the same thing over and over again. Despite all the reasons a knowledgeable person can present not to do it, drivers convince themselves that is is a good idea. So anyway, I was going to stay away from LP threads. Apparently, this is one where I commented on before so it ended up on my screen.

This sort of hit me over the head. These guys are trying to jump ahead in the progression up the wage curve. What they aren't getting is they aren't doing the same job. In fact, it is no longer a job. It is now a business. It is not the same...not even a little. As long as you are thinking it is the same they are going to have plenty of trucks turned in for the next group of guys to con.

Does anyone have data on the percentage of owner operators that fail in the first 3 years? I was unable to find any reliable numbers.

I do know that at least 50% of small businesses fail in the first year and somewhere upwards of 80% fold within 4 years. So even if 90% of lease purchase drivers fail at the end of the day the numbers aren't much worse than people who saved, bought the truck outright and then proceeded to fail. You can plan it out to the smallest detail and still fail through no fault of your own. Luck plays a larger role in you making it as an O/O or L/O than many people here seem willing to acknowledge. Getting the right load at the right time going to the right place can be the difference in having an amazing week and having a week that you barely squeek by. All it takes is one wrong load to screw up a week, maybe even two weeks. I think that is one of the areas where O/O's have a major advantage some of them can afford to wait for the right load.

Trucking is a rather unforgiving, unsympathetic industry it will chew up and spit out a 20 year vet just as mercilessly as it will a 1 year wet behind the ears rookie. The road cares for no one it just goes where it goes. I really don't see why there is so much arguing about this topic neither one is clearly the better option both options carry a huge risk of failure, both options demand attention to detail and no small amount of hustle.

Y'all should be sharing information here because at the end of the day I would bet that the majority of people here are at the mercy of the large companies whether you work for one or have to deal with them driving down rates. Maybe if y'all worked together more and quit bickering over the same nonsense the drivers whether company, O/O, or L/O could take back a small chunk of this industry from the Mega Carrier Cartel.
