Jat, just curious why the dealer is giving you grief over the ratio. Why to they care if you want to spend your $$ to change it? Maybe I missed your point though.

my grief with the dealer is i told them what i was going to be doing with the truck (haulin rv's) before i purchased, i expressed my concerns over the truck being geared to high, they assured me that coupled with the aisin 6 speed that the truck would be able to pull and would not suffer mpg loss due to the strain, that in fact i would get better mpg than the 3.73 or the 4.10's , that ram had engineered this combo to get the mpg while under load....they are wrong and now giving me the cold shoulder since the sale has been made lol

Figures. Hate to say it, but reading all the threads on everyone else' problems help me to not make the same mistakes. The Dodge guys I asked who pull RVs say theirs are 3.73s.

Mine is 4.3, but I wonder if 4.1 would be better. Not sure they make a 4.1 for mine though, maybe aftermarket.

Why would you have to argue with the dealer?

with the .63:1 ration in the top gear of that trans, I'm amazed that the truck even moves with that rear end. They shouldn't even sell anything higher than a 3.73.

It seems both Dodge and Ford are holding their cards very close when it comes to ordering info or full spec's on their new heavyweight's. A huge highlight for Dodge is their heavyduty air ride suspension system supposedly being offered as a factory option, I hope Ford will offer this soon too!
