remember this..
There is no such thing as a backhaul so don't let them screw you on rates using the backhaul BS.. -

I actually get solid rates consistently with TQL. My last three rates were 2.08/mile 2.03/mile and 2.12/mile. That's all miles not loaded only.
I'm not afraid to use CHR on a short 100-200 mile run to get to a better area. I usually hit $3.00 on those. Other than that CHR is indeed cheap and heavy for the long runs -
Any of them are what you let them be. They call, good for you - time to make money, sometimes. You call - it's marginal at best but mostly lowball 99 times out of a 100. The reason I like the big brokerages better is they can and will dig much deeper than most smaller players. The best brokers don't dig for anything but just go to the customer and tell them what it will take. Those are the customers everyone wants.

I really like TQL. They'll dig deep if they need to move a load, they pay like clockwork, and are easy to work with.
Are there occasional snafus? Of course, but there's always someone there to answer the phone and I've always been able to get at least token compensation for my troubles.rollin coal Thanks this. -

When they cave in to demands of $2,000 on 500 or 400 or 300 miles you better believe I will continue working with them. And also on their more marginal rates when those work to my advantage. If they're making $500-$1,000 off a rate like the big ones (or even the not so good) then good for them. We are all interested in scores now and then. I agree with DY 100% and yes they will pay rates like that when most other brokers or customers will choke on the quote. So yeah keep on working with them. Generally what I have found from people that continually diss them is they routinely let themselves be taken advantage of by the likes of the evil 3 letter megas. And likely their "good" customers too.

I'm glad they're making some money -- I'd just as soon they stay in business for a while. Here's the average of the 13 loads I've done for TQL since August:
