I've been debating whether or not to stay with a larger company that would in theory have a larger freight base. But then if you go with a smaller company you're a name and not just a truck number

Reefer isnt that bad as people make it out to be. I guarantee the only way you'll make decent money as a company driver is working for a private company (company that hauls their own product) or an ltl company.

Those companies are what I call the hot girl at school, most guys wont ask her out because they automatically assume she'll turn them down. Same goes for newbies, they won't apply because it's easier in their mind to go to a crap mega since that job is pretty much handed to you versus putting in any actual effort or they have that assumption I know I won't get the job so I'm not even going to try.

As the great Gordie Howe said, you miss 100 percent of all the shots that you never took

Talked to an uncle of mine today he came up from alabama. He told me otr is basically no money unless you get private company or a company that does alot of stops and pays for it. Hazmat and flatbed pay the best without going private

Flat deck. You can put most van loads on a deck trailer, but you can't put very many deck loads in a box.

It also involves significantly less wait times, and is a whole lot more interesting to do on a daily basis. But hey, if you like not getting paid to sit in your truck for 6-8 hours at a time, and never having any input on how it's loaded/secured, then go ahead, pull a van. ;)
